I have noticed some strange roaming behavior on my Razr Maxx with ICS when set to CDMA Only via the LteOn/Off App.
I have a known area nearby where VZW has a roaming agreement with US Cellular.
I drive this area routinely and made made a strange discovery.
If my Razr Maxx is set on CDMA only mode, and drive though this extended service area, it will continually hunt for a signal, flipping between a very weak Verizon signal and a stronger US Cellular one. The phone really never settles down and gets authenticated to google (bars turn from white to blue)
If I drive thought this exact same area, but having my phone set to LTE/CDMA mode, it will roam over to US Cellular without any hiccups, and remains there until I get closer to the verizon tower, at which time it hands back off to Verizon.
Could something have changed on how the PRL works when you manually force the phone to CDMA only vs LTE/CDMA mode? i have been able to repeat this situation each and every time I go from the native verizon area to an extended area.
Perhaps this is why the CDMA only mode was removed from the non-hidden menu ?
