Re: IMPORTANT! READ THIS - Regarding the EMMC Brick Bug on the E4

Hello fellas,

I manually upgraded my E4GT to ICS which was a huge mistake on my part due to my phone freezing for the first time and the OS sucking up all my battery life but thanks to you guys I followed all the instructions carefully and Odin my E4GT back to Gingerbread.
By the way, !Gingerbread is king!

It can happen, but many ICS kernel/recoveries have now been patched to be "safe" from the EMMC brick bug.

Also, to clarify, you don't necessarily have to Odin back to a full GB system. Most people who want to play it extra safe, and always flash from a GB based kernel/recovery, use Mobile Odin to "temp flash" the EL26 kernel/recovery, boot directly from that recovery on the reboot, and flash from there (having the files ready on the phone already prior to flashing the EL26 kernel).

It's important to understand that it's the kernel on your phone at the time of any emmc formats that matters.

Hi to all,

Im new here. I desperately need help on my samsung galaxy tablet. Docomo version model sc-01c. I have been using i for a month suddenly while using it, the the screen just freeze. I thought It was just the usual hang thing on my tablet so i turned it off and charged it. It charged but when the batt got full, and was trying to open it, the only I saw was the blinking samsung galaxy word. :( had it checked with different technicians - one says needs to update the OS but upon checking there was no compatible OS with my tablet. The other technician says, my tab needs jtagging services. And the last technician I spoke to says the emmc/internal memory chip was damaged so the mother board has to be changed. I was not aware that if that is the case my tablet was really in big trouble? Please help me...

SamMobile has the firmware update available for download. Try that one first and see what happens.

Jay,

Forgot to mention on AC - this is resolved as of JB.
Samsung has added code to disable the offending functions in JB kernel source.
