How do I know if a pop up I accidentally downloaded is Maleware?

Ok so I am new to android operating systems and I have a question. While browsing on tumblr I had a porn pic pop up on my screen as soon as you touch your screen it's started a download. The download is called porn droid and it brought me to a page where phone asked me for permission to install 3rd party app I did not. What was this I can't find anything about it. Was it maleware? Thank you

It's not malware (in that it will do any harm to the phone or any software on it), but it will keep bringing you to their site. It's probably one of these "join for X amount of money and we'll stop reminding you" sites. It's more properly called "annoy-ware". (Or "go postal-ware", if they annoy the wrong person too much.)

This is what I found out about it. I wouldn't install it on a sandboxed version of Android running on a PC I was about to junk (unless I was prepared to use a 50 pound sledge hammer and an induction oven on the hard drive).
