When I upgraded to 39A nothing works, why?

When I upgraded to 39A nothing works.

I upgraded today, now when I dial a number, the phone automatically hangs up. I cannot connect to internet nor can I text. Do I need to turn something on/off?

Do you mean that this is a new phone? If so, the fault may lie with the SIM slot or tray, or perhaps the SIM itself is faulty or seated badly.
