I've heard good things about the current JBL speaker line. I've heard the Sondfreaq Sound Spot and it sounds as good as or better than Bluetooth speakers that cost $30-40 more.

Thanks for all the input! I ended up going with the Sony. It was on sale at Target for like $120, I guess because the year is almost out. It sounded pretty good for what it was, and the MotoX paired with it immediately via NFC. Pretty nifty speaker. Hopefully she likes it!
