how do I connect to a network

When I try to phone out on my nexus 4, it replies "Network not available" My phone had been working fine and then suddenly this started happening.

Do you mean trying to make an ordinary voice call or accessing the internet?

Have you tried removing/replacing the SIM card in case it's not making good contact inside the phone?

If you can, have you tried calling 611?

Unless your account has been terminated, bring the phone into your carrier. It could be the SIM card, it could be that something went bad in the phone, it could be that someone messed up your account settings (on your carrier's computer), it could be that the network is down where you are ... I could keep going, but you get the idea. They'll know and be able to fix it - most of the possibilities are things you can't fix.
