some questions about Nexus 7 2013 normal text messaging

Hei ,,,,,,,,I know this is an old issues but I was wondering about normal sms's on my nexus,is it possible to send and receive sms's, or does it requires some apps?I know about tethering to the other devices to text is possible but I'm searching for another way ,,,,pls help,thanks(nexus bros)

You need an app. I use Mighty Text, but there are others, too.

I also use Mighty Text.

You install an app on your phone and on the Nexus 7. When the two are on the same network they detect each other and you can text through your phone. This ensures that all text conversations are on your phone and available on your Nexus. These is also a Mighty Text add-in and web site for chrome and firefox so you can text from your browser on a full sized computer.

If your phone is on Verizon, Verizon Messages app works great. And once it's set up, it works on the tablet no matter how it's connected to the Internet, and even if the phone is turned off.
