NFC takes over 30 seconds to recognize tags

[Android Central Question]

My Pixel 3 takes over 30 seconds to recognize and read, or write to, an NFC tag. My wife's identical phone does it nearly immediately, as expected, on the same page tags. I've tried without a case, I've turned NFC off and back on, and I've rebooted. I can't find others complaining about this issue.

Has anyone seen this or have suggestions on what to try?

I have the same problem with my Pixel 3 XL (android 9). It takes about 30 seconds to recognize a tag or card. The nfc between two devices and beam works regularly. I have tried safe mode and factory reset but the problem still exists. Have you found any solution?

I had actually given up on it, but I just tried again and it's working correctly. Since it has been so long since I last tried it, I can't be certain what solved it. But the only significant change I've made is upgrading to Android 10. So maybe try again once you're on Android 10 as well?

Good luck, and thank you for prompting me to try it again. Now I can start using the NFC tag stickers I bought months ago!
