I only updated once and have a bricked phone. Sprint was helfpul on the phone and said that Radio Shack can order a replacement and swap it out.

That's not very helpful if you need a phone today though.
I know that radio shack will replace it but I don't have a back up sprint phone to use because I just switched to sprint. So it sucks pretty bad.

Help please

I received a notification for the OTA update, tapped the Home button by mistake, then wasn't able to get the notification back for me to click on. Does anyone know how to get the notification back so I can download the update? Sprint was no help at all, of course.

Do NOT update twice

If you know you've installed the update once, if it re-offers, ignore the request.

It seems this is the consistent way to brick your phone during the update. It happened to mine. I downloaded the update once and installed it. Then after a battery pull later on (the phone had been fully updated and restarted), I got another notification to install the update. Thinking something went wrong the first time, I said Ok...and BRICKed.

I didn't want to post this in the update thread and have it get lost in 30 pages of comments.

Ouch! Did you get it back or do you have to take it back to the store? I'm sooo scared to update this phone. I'll wait until froyo comes out instead.

Yeah, I took it into the Sprint store. I'm getting a replacement tomorrow. It's definitely not fun.

Makes me wonder what kind of software update will keep the phone from even powering on, though.

This happened to a fellow employee at our office. Bricked his phone, luckily he got a replacement the same day (his star's aligned, I guess).

Update it and leave it alone.

I got lucky and read about the offering twice. I know I updated the phone, but I see when you check for the HTC update, it says it is still there. Hopefully HTC will fix the problem. I keep telling it not to update again. Once is enough. I really don't want to brick the phone. But it will be annoying if it keeps offering the update.
