SMS Notifications not working after 5.1.1 Upgrade

I use Messenger+ as my default SMS app. Two days ago, the 5.1.1 upgrade (first Lollipop upgrade to my phone) was pushed to Sony Xperia Z3. Now, the SMS notification does not stay in my top bar. It appears momentarily then disappears. The message count on my home screen also doesn't increment. It's a'most as if the message is being instantly marked as read.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? I downloaded Google Messenger but that doesn't seem to be functioning correctly either.

Does it go away on its own or when you clear notifications? Also, have you tried clearing data/cache and uninstalling then re-installing the app? Not ideal, but you could also try Textra and try to narrow it down to see if it's system wide or related to those 2 apps.

you can install more txt sms app from Googleplaystore. I've already seen that defect. It also happened to my gadget. You might need to install a new one.
