LG G3 Android OS keeps my phone awake

Hi everyone. I recently made a jump onboard the G3 boat. This phone is so awesome aside from one thing: the battery life. I know everyone will have a different experience and usage pattern but mine is just untolerable. I've read different threads with people saying they get up to 5 hours of screen on time. For me, 3 hours would be a miracle already and that only happens very very very rarely. Most of the time Android OS would keep my phone awake (generally 6 hours until my phone needs another recharge). Does anyone have the same problem as me? If so, any possible solution? I will post the screenshot later because I just unplugged my phone.

Thanks heaps! :D

Welcome to the G3 forum.☺
Yes, a battery usage screenshot please. Presumably you've tried the simplest tactic, Power Off & Restart, to try to kill whatever it is in Android OS that's draining your battery, if that's what's happening?

So here is the screenshot. On the surface the overall time looks okay (it's been unplugged for 25 hours) but my screen on time has always been horrible (see attached screenshot). I've tried factory reset to no avail. Is your android os keeping your phone awake for that long?

Your screen-on time is indeed bad.
I'll get back to you at the end of the day with my Android OS stats.

I'm a heavy user on the G3 from 6am through to 10pm. I have a genuine spare battery. Sometimes I need to replace it in the evening. A big battery killer is believe it or not PAYPAL. It was a battery killer running in background non stop. Eating my battery. It's 16.35 now in UK. I'm on 76%.I will get through the day.

Here I am near end of the day. I've got 20h 14m Usage On Battery, Android OS has used 16% of the battery charge used (I was down to about 20% before connecting to charger) and Android OS Keep Awake is 8h 31m. Screen-on time 4h 37m, has used 46% of the battery charge used, various brightness settings.

So the keep awake stats for Android OS is indeed high for you too. I wonder what's keeping my screen on time crap though? I'm on V10i btw if that helps. I only have regular apps (whatsapp, fb, instagram, android central, line and some australian banking and transport apps)

I'm on v10h.

Three things occur to me: Try Safe Mode; try calibrating the battery; try the Greenify app which seems to be generally regarded as a very good battery saving app.

Also, consider the possibility that your battery is duff.

Oh thanks for the suggestion! Sorry for the stupid question: how do I calibrate the battery again?

Consider installing the Wakelock Detector app from the Play Store. Android OS is doing something in the background and that may help you find out what....although I'm not sure how effective wakelock detectors are with specifically Android OS problems, never having had to use one myself.

Also go to Settings, General, Location, and make sure your Mode is set to Battery Saving. Also Settings, General, Accounts & Sync, and make sure your syncing settings are appropriate.

If I were in your position, my instinct....not necessarily to be trusted of course....would be to either use Safe Mode, or, which would be easier, just uninstall some of the apps you mention....the first three, for example. Although they don't show up in the stats, they may be causing some conflict with other apps, leading to repeated syncing or location reporting etc. You can easily reinstall them if they're not the culprits.

Regarding the Paypal app, did you uninstall/reinstall, clear cache and data, or what, to fix it?
