J3: Not receiving text message notifications from 1 person

Hello, I am having problems with my Grandads phone. He is getting notifications from myself and others, but not my mother. This is only in text messages, facebook Messenger works and provides a tone and buzz. But for some odd reason, her texts have no notification to them when received. Have tried look at previous models and doing things like on my S6, but unfortunately due to the model I am at a bit of a loss. Have tried editing contact, but there appears to be no options to edit notifications or anything of the sort.

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Apps, select the messaging app, then Notifications, and look for the options for the specific conversation with your mother. You should be able to modify the notifications for that specific conversation.

I am sorry, and thank you for the help. But have tried this already here this picture can show there is no option for change specific persons data, even on their message there is no option... Model of Samsung J3

Hmm. When you say "even on their message there is no option," do you mean that when you open the stock Messaging app and select that conversation, you don't see a 3 vertical dot menu button in the corner, with an option for notifications?

That happened to me. I had unintentionally muted notifications from that person.
