I'm looking at getting a note 10.1, is it worth the extra money for the 2014 version. I'm seeing main differences is screen resolution, but not sure if I would notice differences, and a extra gig memory.

My main interest in the note 10.1 is the multi window feature and I'm seeing that Samsung has updated that on the 2012 model also. Would there be a good reason to spend the extra cash on the 2014 model for multi window features.

I have the 2012 model and love it. The screen is plenty sharp enough for my needs. Reading, youtube, netflix etc. I dont play games. If you can afford it the newer version seems beefed up all around, camera 8mp vs 5, ram 3gb, vs 2, battery 8300mhz vs 7000. Screen 2560x1600 vs 1280x800. But the 2012 is plenty nice.

Can you run chrome and internet browser at same time in multi window. Wanting to know if the multi window apps are the same on both now. I know at one time 2012 was limited, but thinking from what I read, Samsung updated that in the jelly bean update. Can anyone shed light on this.

If you want to use multi window a lot i would suggest getting the 2014 edition. the Better CPU, 3GB of Ram can better handle it compared to the 2012 edition.

For $100 you get better resolution, Better specs, more memory and newer product. Newer product means it should get more updates then the 2012 edition

Well in my case I bought 2 used ones. One for 140.00 missing the charger (walmart has one that works for 20 bucks) and the second for 220. In pristine condition including two custom fit cases. So for less than 400.00 I have two of them with really nice cases. If you're going to pay retail, you might at well get the newest model. But if you are on a budget a used or refurbished 2012 note is a great tablet.

whenever I suggest things it is always based on New Prices of items :) Of course buying a used note 10.1 from 2012 for that price is a great value. I just don't see the point between the 2012 and 2014 version difference to be worth buying the 2012 edition new

I agree with you if comparing both devices new. The 2014 has basically double the specs. Id buy one if I could afford it. When I buy a tablet it is always times two. One for me and one for my wife. So 1,200 bucks is a lot to spend for me. I'm thrilled with my used 2012. The specs on it still outpace a lot of newer offerings and how good does it really need to be? It's very responsive. Sounds good, strong wifi and the screen is plenty sharp enough for me.

Yup the 2012 edition is a great device and the only issue with it for me was resolution but other then that the best 10 inch tablet excluding the nexus 10 at the time

Well I received my 2012 note 10.1, and so far I don't regret my decision. Glad I saved the $260. I could practically but 2 for the price of 1 of the 2014 model. I'm sure the 2014 model would be nice, but a guy doesn't miss what they don't have, lol.

I bought mine last week used for $150.00. I've been wanting this particular model for awhile now. So far it's a great tablet and I'm very happy with it, to be honest it's more than I had expected. Btw, I've had 3 different 7 inch tablets and got rid of them because for me they were to small for my needs, this 10 incher is perfect.

I think it depends...

There are a lot of differences between the 2012 and 2014 editions; I for one have switched partially because I use mine for writing and drawing (art commissions), and on the 2012, I couldn't make it so that my hand on the screen wouldn't register when I didn't want it to (when I wanted to be able to write or draw with the Spen). It was tremendously frustrating for me, but barring that- and a few other tiny problems- the 2012 is a great device by itself; it's just the 2014 has so much that makes it more convenient, intuitive, and easy to use IMHO.

I bought a refurbished 2012 from Walmart last July for $299 and love it. I've never compared it to the 2014 model, but the 2012 meets my needs perfectly. I use the browser in multi screen with s note or a spreadsheet quite often. Great tablet!

So far I am happy with the 2012 model. When Samsung releases their next model, I will buy a refurbished 2014 model. I'm ok with yesterday's technology on tablets as they do what I need plus some and I save a lot of money

I bought my 2012 version last summer and am really happy with it. Since technology becomes obsolete so quickly these days, I would buy the 2014 today due to its more modern specs. Of course it cost a little more now but you future-proof your device for some time as a result.
