Why won't my Samsung Note 3 send or receive Danish special characters in text messages?

My Samsung note 3 won't send or receive Danish special characters in text messages

I get other letters that doesn't make any sense instead, making the text message not easy to read.
I think it's strange as I have installed the Danish keyboard and see the Danish letters on the keyboard and in the text message I write and send, but the receiver see other letters where the Danish special characters should have been, and the same goes for messages I receive in Danish?!?
