Disable email review line and app notification

Hello,
So far so good with my device. No major issues. Just some growing pains.
A couple things I can not figure out.

1 - How do you disable the preview line in Email? For my default email view I only want to see the Sender and Subject. I do not want to see the first line preview of the body of the message. This was a feature on my old Note 3.
2 - I can not for the life of me figure out how to disable all sound and vibration notifications for applications. I still want to see the pop-up icon, but I do not want my phone to vibrate or play a sound. I only want my want my phone to vibrate if it is a message or call. Right now, it seems as though for App settings it is either enable or disable notifications. I do not see way to enable notifications, but only pop-up. Disable vibration and sound.
3 - Has anyone found any value to the Edge? The shortcuts it offers is no better than just creating an icon on the main pages. It seems to be a marketing strategy and aesthetics only. I would prefer a flat screen again.

3. I enjoy using the task edge. I can quickly open an app then go back to the original app.
