I haven't used SD since the Droid 2 so forgive my ignorance.

I installed my 256GB last night and it appears my options are
A) encrypt the SD card and lose access if I hard reset or am unable to remove encryption before replacing phone or factory resetting
B) not encrypting it and allowing a thief to have full access to my content simply by putting the card in another device.

Is that really my options other than trusting 3rd party apps?

Honestly I think I will encrypt it because all of my pics will be saved on Photos, even when not on Wi-Fi and I really just want the extra memory for temporary video storage like concerts and family gatherings.
