Can't view names in messages after update

[Android Central Question]

I have a Samsung note 9 and android updated to the latest OS on February 9th 2019. The new OS completely butchered the messages app and now I cannot find any setting that allows me to display names. Some help would be nice as maybe I'm missing something but it's hard to find a message from a person when all you have to go off of is a first initial 1/2 your contacts start with a C.

Welcome to Android Central! If it's anything like the Calendar issue (where some people are having trouble seeing the dates in the calendar grid), then it could be a theming problem. Try changing your theme to default and see if things reappear.
