Unfortunately, it didn't work for me.

With a mark next to "Disable STREAM_SYSTEM_ENFORCED"
I get a message " Successfully set volume to 0."
With out it I get " Successfully set volume to max."
Either way the shutter still sounds and there are no new settings option to turn on or off the shutter sound.

I can do the exact same thing on my unrooted t-mobile s3.

What error do you receive when you try to uninstall it?
You are attempting to uninstall it using the Application manager, right?
I just installed it, used it (it worked fine for me) and uninstalled it without any issues.

Edit: although I did have to reinstall it, uncheck the checkbox and then uninstall it again to bring the shutter sound back.
