Audio or video not playing

I changed from Apple to Galaxy s4 - I fell for the bigger screen, for my satnav apps and video playback, all I need now is for my music to play (vital) and some video files. After it can be a bl*-*dy phone and I have descended into a world of frustration and hurt !!! for weeks I have followed every damn suggestion, used every damn converter, and still it comes up with "player does not support this type of audio file" despite the fact that it played it quite happily the day before ! and will play the next file from teh same group, as for videos, don't even start thinking about it, PLEASE APPLE a bigger screen and I will come home, if you will have me !! Oh iTunes, i just didn't appreciate you !

sometimes you have to stand up and be counted - Everything I said above came from utter frustration and lack of clarity of how to get help, BUT, I have to now admit - The extended memory SDcard appears to have been faulty, a new one bought as a last resort and everything works !!
