Samsung S4 stuck on reboot page

My Samsung S4, when turning it on, asked me for a password - I entered my password, the Samsung logo started up and then went back to ask me for my password. It repeats this process a few times until eventually it is stuck on the password screen "To start Android, enter your password" I have had the same password for many years and have not forgotten it, the phone wont accept it. Is there anyway I can get past this page without having to restore my settings. I have years of information on this phone and don't want to lose it. Please help.

Re: Samsung S4 stuck on reboot page

Welcome to Android Central! Is it an alphanumeric password, or a numeric PIN? If alphanumeric, make sure shift or caps lock isn't on. You could also try using a basic USB keyboard via OTG cable, in case there's some problem with the phone's keyboard app.
