How can I get my Galaxy S5 speakerphone mic working?

Galaxy S5 speakerphone mic not working

When I try to talk on speakerphone, people tell me they can barely hear me. Sometimes my voice is clear, other times it sounds like I am muffled or far away. A phone case is not in the way, nor is the microphone clogged. The phone has done this since I bought it 5 months ago.

I am able to use the voice recorder and can be heard fine.

Samsung told me to do a complete reinstall of the phone. I do not want to back everything up and risk losing data as I have syncing issues with my mac.

Since the phone is under warranty, you have only 2 options:

1) If you live where the warranty calls for a replacement phone, have it replaced.

2) If not, send it to Samsung.

In either case, you'll have to back up everything. Don't sync, back up - Backing up an Android Device.

Same thing happend to my s5, a factory reset didn't help. If under warranty exchange it. If you have insurance make a claim. Sux, but I think it's a problem with some of them.
