You don't need to be rooted to get the OTA update.

Most likely after they catch enough people in the 'gimmie new' net. then they will drop it. Thats what i think at least

why release it when s3 coming out with ics and there trying to bring in alot of pre orders. it will defeat the purpose.

Well the race is on. Will the SII get ICS update before the SIII is release on 6/21?

I'm guessing not. Just shows how hard it is to debug the custom carrier versions.

I'm glad Google is trying to address this problem buy having several Nexus phones on different carriers, should be much easier to update vanilla Android than the carrier customized versions. They probably will be without 2 year contract discount though.

I don't see why Samsung would piss off their loyal customers in the hopes that one or two people will order the SGS III for full price just for the software upgrade. Sprint just needs to get a move on and get the upgrade released.

i talked to a sprint level 2 tech and they said its up to samsung and to give them a call,called samsung and they said its up to sprint to release it so imo its not going to come out till the s3 comes on the 21st of this month. and a heads up with the s3 its like the iphone comes with 16gb and a 32gb built in memory with no sd to add extra memory.....

Next time check your facts before posting. The S3 has already been out for preorders on Sprint for a few days and it has an sd card slot...

For onebi checc the fax and no it doesnt ive talked to 2 reps and both said it comes with a16gb and a 32gb and they both said no sd card slot for extra memory so u need to checc the fax

Internal memory is 16/32/64.... it also has a micro sd slot for up to 64 more gigs.. so you are both right on this matter....

I never disagreed that it had 16/32GB internal storage, but it has a micro sd slot:

Officially up to 32GB, but the 64GB sdxc cards work too.
