Foxfi / PdaNet wireless tether work on Sprint Samsung S2 ??

I tried to install Foxfi and PdaNet+ to a friend's 2 year old Samsung S2 by Sprint. After an hour of troubleshooting, I finally gave up it was so frustrating. I'm pretty sure Sprint is blocking these 2 apps from working, even though I was able to install the apps to the phone. The apps appear to work, but then it just goes into an endless loop of trying to activate, and then the phone goes into a soft reset. Frustrating! This is for a friend's non-rooted phone, I don't know what version of operating system he has.

Sprint blocked Fox-fi from working on the GS2E4GT a long while ago. Fox-fi thought they would get the issue resolved, but unfortunately, as far as I know, they never did.

The app works for some devices, not all. If you want to receive wireless tether with the E4GT then you will need to root.

Thank you for your replies. I also have a different friend who just bought a Samsung S4 from Sprint, but he cannot make FoxFi nor PdaNet work for wireless tethering. That's too bad.
