Phone Info Update

I was trying to find a way to switch to 2G and got some bad advice. I did the *#*#4636#*#* and went to phone information and changed preferred network type, then SMSC update and refresh and toggle DNS.

What happened was my text stopped working. I did a factory reset and it still didn't work(I found I needed to update the Messege Center number, which I have done) but I fixed that.

My question is: Should I have anything in the SMSC Field and should Toggle DNS be set at "allowed" or "Not allowed"

Is there anything else I need to possibly fix too?

Those settings should not be mess with. Do a full reset(hard reset) of the device and leave those settings as is. That should revert all settings to defAult.

Yeah, unfortunately I learned that the hard way. Is a hard reset for android different that a battery pull(I know that's all I had to do for a hard reset on BB)?

if you cant fix this i advise using Odin to flash back to stock

Is this something I can do with a mac? or do I need a PC?

Is a factory data reset(under privacy) the same as a hard reset?

Windows only.

Yes, however using Odin will restore system files that a factory reset will not.
