1080 Vs 720

I cant believe the amount of people dissing the screen on the s3, The display on my s3 was amazing, and i actually probably prefer it over this display, The only area its better in is bright light and not by a huge margin to be honest!

And this is the point a lot of people miss. We all know that the screen on the S3 was terrible at representing true color, but that really doesn't matter if the user likes the way it looks. It may not be accurate, but if the end user is happy who cares? Some people buy HDTVs and leave them in "store" aka "torch" mode and like it. I can't imagine why, but they do.

Fair point but i would imagine most people prefer whats appealing to the eye then "technically" whats more accurate!! Dont get me wrong, the screen is great but i remember having a particular wallpaper on my s3 that i loved, after viewing it on the htc one it just didnt look the same, It 'popped' out more on the s3 i felt

That experience would be in line with what one would expect. To each their own.

It's hard for me to tell too, even with my glasses on. To me, resolution isn't everything. If it were, I would think the Retina display on the iPhone was nice. I actually think it's one of the worst displays I've ever seen. I can't comment on the GS3 or the GS4, but the display on the Note 2 is fantastic.

Is the note 2 amoled? I think i just prefer amoled screens, I know a guy with a one x and even then screen on that is more 'popping' Iam not going to say better because i agree its personal preferance really but a display that just pops out and has more of a wow thats nice look is more appealing to me and i think amoled screens give you that, The screen on the one is however brighter and a little more readable in daylight so both have pros and cons i guess

What most people are noticing is the difference between pentile and other screen types and brightness. This has nothing to do with 720p vs 1080p. For screens this small, the ppi spec is more important. A 720p pentile screen will look grainier than a non-pentile 720p screen. However, I use my phone about 2 feet from my eyes most of the day. From that distance, I couldn't tell the difference between my MAXXHD and the DNA I was considering. I think the One has set a standard for ppi. I doubt anyone would be able to tell the difference with screens of higher pixel density. Next step is for manufacturers to start concentrating on color accuracy.

No, no it isn't. From what I've seen the One and S4 are about tied. Everything else is below of course.

That is plain BS. I had a photo taken with a Canon dslr, viewed it on an iphone 5, htc one x and samsung galaxy s3 (amoled), only on the samsung did a picture taken in WHITE snow have a greenish tint. I had the galaxy s3 for about a week and returned it because the display was pitiful.

It seems I end up posting this image every other day, but then there's a new thread on the topic every other day so...

I do believe its 1080p. I cant remember the last time i saw anything with just a 1080i display

I couldn't either until I just got a hand-me-down 19 in. Sanyo LCD TV - lol. I had to set the resolution to 1280 x 720 because the 1080 was interlaced and was ridiculously bad.

If you didn't notice the difference, you need glasses :p Even going from an rgb 720p phone the difference was huge. Going from gs3 to the note 2 was also an improvement despite the screen increase. Pentile just kind of sucks

Gs3 to the note 2 was an improvement.. whaaaat? Note 2 screen is so grainy.

Amoled always has a color hue which is discernable when compared to a screen that actually doesn't (I.e. Lcd) but that doesn't mean it's bad. I have the s3 and the color hue is green.

Our eyes automatically white balance. It's not as big of a deal as looking at phones side by side. All else equal, I'd prefer an actual white.

Pentile resolution hardly matters at that pixel density, and definitely not at 1080P, unless you look at your phone all day with a magnifying glass, as they mention in the conclusion.

Difference between 720p & 1080p on all these new phones are hardly noticeable.

However, I do think there is a big difference between super amolded (Samsung) & super LCD (HTC).

That's why 1080p tvs don't start til the 30"group. The human eye can't tell the difference from a distance at small sizes

I agree LCD are more color accurate and also brighter,Amlod is saturated and Dim,and this is noticeable.

Anyone know how the screen compares to the N4's screen? It's obviously better because the N4 is 768p but the N4's IPS is miles ahead of the GS3.

I know i'm talking about the S4, but the whites don't look as good. but the N4's screen is washed out stock.
