just curious, with the verizon "management chain" if it is green lighted, or not, what is the "chain of command" so to speak on how the launch date, or postponement gets down the ranks so to speak?

example - top honchos, down to regional, down to district??

As I said on the Droid Life post, I really don't think Verizon's right hand knows what its left hand is doing. I honestly think the stores that are saying they have no clue, probably don't because they either never thought to ask someone who may know or they just simply don't care.

I wondered about that also. The girl I spoke with on the phone sounded really disinterested and kind of irritated I even asked. That's cool, Atlanta is a big city with more than one Verizon store.

Nope, makes too much sense. Not the way VZW rolls, as they don't even know themselves.

Ok, OK... sorry, but even I'm getting a little exasperated (which is rare, but hey, I'm human like everyone else..)

regardless of what happens, I am going to pull a BB and act like i know its being released tomorrow, and get them to sell me one. Ill call tonight, verify that they still think its tomorrow, and then go in first thing when they are tired and out of it and go for a sale.

If it doesnt work, no biggy, if it does all the better!

My rep called me again to let me know it will be in tomorrow. I'll believe it when I see it, but she said she's holding it and I have a meeting scheduled with her for 11:30a. Of course this happened last week. She called me last Monday to say it would be in and then called back to say the date was pushed back. This is at the store on Mt Zion Rd in Morrow, GA. Lawanda (sp?) is the rep who called me both times.

I think the plan is to release the phone tomorrow, but it should be clear after following this saga for months that Verizon doesn't want people to buy the phone. They're going to do a little as humanly possible to promote the phone.

Even if they do promote it, I think the marketing department would be the very last people to know if it's releasing, that's why I don't hold much stock into Wireless Vet's mention of having a marketing guy in his office.

I don't expect Verizon to market the phone at all. It will be up to Samsung and Google.

Called customer service, was told the Galaxy Nexus is coming out tomorrow. Pretty confident about that, solely because no human beings on the face of the earth could possibly screw this launch up anymore than they already have.

Verizon Customer Service?

Honestly.. what incentive does Verizon have to release this phone? Sure they will grab customers from other carriers, BUT those customers are more than likely going to be members of the Android community. They have so much more to gain from selling their current holiday offerings, which is why I believe they won't even put out a PR (Just like WebDevAnalyst mentioned).

ETA; They are probably only releasing this phone because they have a contract and of course they've purchased X amount of units. I wonder what would happen if the companies phone stock runs out.. would they re-order?

Really you had to say it?

Crap.....

This launch has made me one of the most superstitious people.

Sent from somewhere using something to send it.

Called 3 Verizon stores in UT and all said no official word and all said probably not tomorrow. Only 1 of the 3 said they even have it in stock. So not sure if it means much but didn't sound promising.

I am a corporate rep at one of our regional headquarter buildings. There is no way they would not inform us of a 4G smartphone launch. And I have a marketing director here in our building.
Yes they would. iPhone. I know you said 4G, but many reps with whom I have talked told me that they didn't know when one of the iPhones was to be launched until launch day, then were trained on later that day after the release.
