16G vs 8G

I got 16 I already have 12gb used . Mostly games . The dark knight rises alone is close to 2gb

I put in my order for a 16g one this past Thursday-- it should arrive tomorrow, Monday.

I was on the fence about which size to get but went with the 16g version "just in case".

I wont be loading it full of music but I will be loading it with tons of ebooks and a bunch of videos and apps so I wanted to make sure I wouldn't have to constantly babysit storage space.

Also note that this device is linked to "the cloud" where Google expects and hopes you will purchase a majority of your content from (hence them blatanlty saying "made for Google Play") so they believed there would me little to no need for external storage or heaps and heaps of GBs. IJS

I ended up going with the 8gb, all of my stuff is already on googles cloud services, and i dont really game much on tablets. I mainly will use it to browse the web, youtube, and read books so i couldnt justify the need for 8gigs more. Plus ive had an 8 gig kindle fire running Jellybean and have never used more than 2 gigs on it.

Just bought mine today. They only had the 16 GB model at my local Staples, so I just went with it. If they only had the 8 GB one, I would have been just as happy.

Walmart only has the 16gb so they kinda forced me to get the 16gb one...:D

Same happened to me. I'm glad they had the 16 because it's what I wanted. I'm super glad they didn't only carry the 8.

Goodness. Love to see your list of apps and games. Might be something interesting for me to use. I've not found many apps that were "for me"; if that makes sense. Not to go too off topic, you can just pm me that info if you were ok to do it.

It's only ~ $50.00 more. If $50.00 is going to break the bank, you probably shouldn't buy a $200.00 tablet in the first place.

That's a silly thing to say. $50 is $50. If you are not going to use the extra memory (like myself) there is no reason to throw the money out on it, no matter how much money you have or make.

That's a pretty good thought to have. Unfortunately I'm always on the wrong side of that lol. If I don't use all the storage on this 16GB, I'll be ok financially, but killed mentally lol.

LOL, I see.

That type of thing is just a pet peeve of mine. It's like when someone is buying a car and they get an option that they really didn't care for but they say "Who cares, it's only $750, that's a small number when looking at the total price of the car".

Yeah, it may be small in comparison, but it's still $750!!!!!!!

Don't mind me :confused::-$

I wish I could keep myself from spending extra money that isn't really extra lol. I'll try and keep this train of thought in my head.

I bought the 16GB. I just like more storage for future purposes, I'm using my N7 for gaming, browsing, netflix and will be taking quick notes for college. I just feel more at ease when I have more storage haha I have the best FPS and racing games on Gplay even if it's Tegra or not and I still have 5GB of storage.

This this and this for me too. I know I'll be using it a lot for gaming and apps and media.

I never used more than half the space on my 8GB iPod Touch so I figured the 8GB Nexus 7 would be plenty. I haven't seen any reason yet to change my mind.

However, I can understand why some people prefer the 16GB model. They're using their tablet differently than I do, and one size does not fit all.

I ended up picking up the 8GB Nexus 7 yesterday for a number of reason. First, this was an impulse buy. I am still very new to Android, having had my GS III for only a month, but the Nexus was a good bargain. Second, I stream a lot. Google Play or Spotify for music, Netflix for movies, etc. I also do not store a ton of games, routinely clearing out ones I do not play. I also already own a 16GB iPad, so I can always turn to that for more storage. Basically, my Nexus is just a new toy. I don't need much storage on it in order to make me happy.

I've had my tablet for abut a week now. The remaining space is 5.89gbs, the majority being application storage.

I have an 8. All my music is on my iPhone and I'm not a gamer and I don't have ton apps on my N7. I do use it for web surfing - mostly news, Netflix and Amazon movies, and reading. I always have more than 5GB available. 8GB is perfect for me and I saved $50 by not getting a 16. Essentially, it all depends on what you're using you N7 for.

I bought an 8GB because it was easier to sell to the wife. Plus I'll more than likely be using it to read more than anything while I ride the train to work and such. So when I'm on the go I'll probably not be watching movies and I have my phone to listen to music.

I got the 16GB though I'm a digital hoarder. I have over 1000+ ebooks, I bring movies from my home to work and play them via MxPlayer, I play A LOT of games, and I use several apps daily. So I do need the space. I honestly think it depends on your use. Although, there are plenty of cloud storage options out there as well to help lower using your physical storage.
