16GB - that really sucks... Does it?

Regardless of whether u Cloud or not... I choose not to... Or if u'r frugal regarding the data u keep on u'r phones... Google could of made the Nexus 4 a no brainer by releasing a 32GB model at launch... 8GB-$300(Clouder's)-16GB-$350(Mild Clouder's or non-Gamer?s)-32GB-$400 (Non-Couder Gamers..) 8GB to 32GB would hit the sweet spot for over 95% of Android users... I was planning on getting 2 Nexus 4 at launch... But now I plan to hold out until there is a 32GB version... Hopefully before I/O 2013... It seems Google didn't learn anything from the Nexus 7... They plan to wait to give a lot of us what we want...

Has anybody asked Google how soon before they release a 32GB Nexus 4 ???? I might have to just go with a Note II.... Over 16GB of storage...

I don't know why they do that either. Sometimes i think these tech geeks just out think themselves and figure everyone will want to do it how they think, but it just isnt so.

I'd be willing to bet that 8GB and 16GB models meet that magic 95% of users needs.

If you need more than 8-10GB of space, you're in the minority.

Well the 32GB Nexus 4 should of been the first thing they thought about having a launch after what they saw with the Nexus 7 32GB version...

Where I do think they out think themselves is on the SD Card slot part... All they have to release was a 8GB Nexus 4 with up to 64GB SD card slot... Don't include a SD card but recommend that u get a Class 10 one... Then one could keep a "simple" on board 8GB storage... Or one could CHOOSE to "complicate" one?s Nexus 4 by sticking a Class 10 SD card on to the phone for extra storage.... This would be a choice by the customer.... Most Android users are not ISheep that needs Apple to tell them what tech is good for them or not.... The only reason by Google does not want to include SD card slots is to force us into their cloud... Well they can keep trying... I don't care about the Cloud.... Good luck with that... But don't use the excuse that "it's to complicated"... That is insulting and complete BS... Dumb phones use SD card's....

and its also been explained many times that that is understood and maybe this phone isn't for you

We keep arguing "the cloud is fine, the cloud works, just stream your music! ," my point is, that answer doesnt work for some. Those on a 200mb plan need to carry their music files with them, either on an MP3 player, or on the phone. Is that "wrong?" :screwy:

Okay.... We haven't snarked yet, buy Jerry's 4gb Nexus and a $100[1] MP3 player, and you're good. If it all has to fit on a phone.... get an iphone on (edit) contract. :banghead:

I have to be clear, I'M NOT ONE OF 'THOSE PEOPLE.' I have a 2 GB plan, and fast Wi-Fi at home and work. I hardly reach my cap even when I'm trying to. But I've read multiple posts by those overseas who have much lower caps, or much higher prices for GB data plans. (Oh, sorry, was AC supposed to be a US-only forum?) Since I'm T-Mo, I travel to some areas where I get no data, that's right ZERO DATA, so the ability to cache maps and such is necessary.

[1]... With the $100 you saved off the unlocked phone.

I guess that is why all the other manufacturers release phones with 4GB, 8GB or 16GB and no SD card slots (Wait that is only failing HTC)... There is no need for 32GB or 64GB phones without SD cards... Guess the market is wrong & Google is right... Sure, most might be able to make due with 16GB... But u'll get to a point where u'r having to dump 1080p video or 720p movies... And If u enjoy carrying games that u bought & that take a lot of space on u'r phone... U should just delete, delete, delete... BS...

I thought he meant something else i didnt know about. I have Google Music all set up but i hardly use it because it uses data.

Nope. Get on Wifi, mark your music "available offline," sync, go. Your data plan is safe. Not sure you'd seen that feature.

I think Amazon MP3 does this too.

So u want us to keep re-downloading songs in batches over and over (If u don't do it in batches then u might as well have them on u'r phone permanently) so we can listen to them.... And be on the look out for WiFi to make this work... And then do another batch... And another batch... LOL Cloud FAIL!!!

No, I'm saying that most (as in almost ALL) people are fine with it. You're not, and that's OK. It doesn't make everyone else wrong though.
Just buy any of the 120 or so Android phones that were released this year with an SD card instead of this one. Vote with your wallet, not on an Internet forum.

Now read this carfully b/c i keep saying it: I am not arguing that you should stream anything or use the cloud. Thats up to you if it doesn't work for you i don't care, don't use it. my point is this phone was clearly designed for (at least at the moment) people who are going to use the cloud. There are a gazillion other android phones out there with sd card slot why dont just go out grab one. I know they don't get the updates as fast or not at all or w/e but its about trade offs. this phone is NOT THE PHONE FOR YOU. and no matter how many posts you make its not going to chang. 77 ppl signed the petition to get an sd slot on the next nexus. 77 out of how many that are intrested in a nexus phone( on this site anyway). thats not alot of ppl

I really have no idea how there's still a discussion about this. I think 16GB are plenty. I right now have an iPhone 4 16GB (which will soon change ;) ).
It has 200 songs, 3 videos, 416 pictures and 75 apps on it, and I still have 4.5GB out of the 13.7GB available, that's also without "cleaning" up my phone, which I usually do because I hate when it's filled with stuff that I don't need anymore.
Sure some people like to take all of their music library with them, or their bluray collections, but honestly just buy yourself an usb adapter and plug in a 32GB USB stick or whatever.

the way im going to use this is to have all my music in the cloud. ill have a few of my favorite albums pinned to stay on my phone incase im ever with out data. and if i know im going somwhere were i probably wont have data maybe ill pin a few more just incase. if you didnt want to use data at all once a week while on wifi you could just unpin the old and repin some new music. I understand its not quite as convienent as having all your songs there all the time but you cant listen to all your songs all the time

Another phone would be be my choice if not for UI's, delays on upgrades, missing hardware or features on custom Roms do to proprietary drivers for every other phone out there... The Nexus 4 is the only phone that will update for the next two years without delay... It seems to be an awesome phone.... And u can't beat the specs at the price.... The thing that gets my goat is that Google faced out a 8GB Nexus 7 for a reason.... The Nexus 7 is a device that most don't carry around as much as one would a Nexus 4... Not even close... Some might keep them in their cars... But most will just use a Nexus 7 at home and for some special trips use them on the road... The Nexus 4 will go with us everywhere... So I fail to see why Goggle would not learn from the Nexus 7 and just release a 16GB and 32GB versions for most of us... And a 8GB version for the peeps that bought into the cloud.... It's perplexing...

As for me using a forum to vent... Some one posted about ? of the 16GB Nexus 4 sucking... I don't think the 16GB sucks... But I think it's to limiting and a 32GB version should be available at launch... I am just giving my 16 cents... I thought that was what forums where for... Guess not... My apologies....

Oh, COME ON. "Be on the look out for WiFi..." Who's in this boat? Am I really such a First World trust fund kiddie that I can use WiFi at work, and have WiFi and broadband at home? At my gf's in Sunnvale, her Comcast broadband give ms 25mbps down, 4.6mbps, speeds T-Mo almost never gives me. "I can't pick what music to listen to today, bwaaaaaah...." #firstworldproblem

ANYWAY, Rayzaa's comment was based on the presumption that using Google Play "required" use of a data plan. I was simply pointing out the workaround. #gimmabreak

Ahem. You're arguing at the wrong person. I HAVE been reading your posts, and agree. I was just raising a point; not debating your perspective. Simmer the **** down and stop browbeating anyone who doesn't agree with you.

As I said, "If it all has to fit on a phone... get an iPhone on contract." I actually LIKE Jerry's snip, where's the 4GB version for $249. As a basic phone with a little storage, using data/Wi-Fi for most storage, and getting regular updates from Google, a $249 Nexus4 would be a colossal game-changer. I wish they would. I'd love to see Google stick it to the carriers with a red hot, erm, Nexus.

I myself prefer to shuffle from my entire collection.... I don't even bother with playlists... I can go from a 40's tune to Rap to 80's to Basanova, 70's rock, others... That's how I enjoy my music... I like to be surprise... So limiting the scope of shuffling at what ever time I decide to tune out does not work for me... Maybe it does for most... But that is how I roll... I think a 32GB Nexus 4 would give me enough space to fill it with GB's of music while still keeping large games, movies... Etc...

Sure... Wifi at home is universal... Wifi at work is not... Some of us work on more Wifi restrictive work places... I myself don't have a problem with Data with TMobile's 5GB a month... But I don't see the point of having to continue to stream just to listen to something that I can have on my phone... Even with all of TMobile's improvements u can't count on having 4G when ever u fell like listening to music... Specially while driving or in large buildings.... Also, What is the point of a 32GB Nexus 7 if everybody can just Wifi... Google knows that a 32GB Nexus 4 would sell... Yet chooses to sit on that option...

yea i used to be like that too. Difference is i had a 120gb zune literally filled with music. And id just start it up and have a shuffle of every song i had. Thing is this phone... wasn't ment to do that.

Good point. Oops -- I forget that I use a music library program (MediaMonkey) which does this offline on the "source," then syncs the mix playlists to each device.

If the Nexus 4 was just a phone like the SGIII or SG Note 2 or the Moto Maxx's or the HTC One +'s or the HTC DNA etc... Then we wouldn't be discussing what might be missing from it... But the Nexus 4 is the only phone for the next two year that will receive updates within weeks of a new Android announcement... All the other phones will have to wait 4-6 Months if not longer... That is what makes what some of us see as a major shortcoming such a big deal.... It's our only choice.... And it's just about perfect.... But it's missing an extra 16GB's of storage or an SD card slot...
