2.0.1 battery drain?

ive went all day not recharging and im at about 20%. also i looked at what was eating my battery and it was my display taking 75 %. everything else was minimal.

*searched, battery life

Ive had my droid for a few days now, and i really am dissapointed with battery life. With no bluetooth, no wifi, and screen on lowest setting, apps closed with advance task killer. i really cant get my battery to last even a half day. And i dont really use it much. Am i missing something?

did you upgrade it to 2.0.1?...if so...

with all that done...sounds like you have a defective battery my friend...my droid lasts almost a day and a half...return it!

These are all good battery settings to use when trying to conserve, I too had some serious concerns about the battery life when I first got the DROID as well however, the more I let it die and charge again it got better and better. I can go a full day with heavy usage or a day and a half with light usage. GPS can really drain your battery quick also as I'm sure you already know, anyhow hang in there and see if your battery life improves at all. If not return it for a new one!

GPS is also off...i do not see how on a lithium-ion battery letting it die and charge over and over that it would improve battery life. I can give it a try and see how things go. Anyone else chime in?

I too can go a whole day on one charge with heavy use. I think its your battery. I would take it in and try to exchange it.

A Li-on battery doesn't work like the old Ni-cads, but they do need some conditioning. I'm no engineer, having an actual personality, but on the DeLorme gps forums, there are a bunch of them, and battery talk is rampant. Rest assured that your battery will get better shortly. They do NOT react well to full discharging, tho'.

genetic bloom has it right - check the battery usage setting and see what it is listing. If you aren't using the phone at all and it is dying that quickly, it's either some installed app or a defective battery. If it's new and you're playing with non stop then I'd say its possibly expected. Also, I'd recommend not getting all crazy with task killers. They truly aren't needed and could hurt the battery - many apps will autorestart even ifyou kill them with task killer so all you're doing is adding more stops/starts to processes which uses more battery in the end.

+1. I'm not sure what is considered heavy or light usage for me, but my Droid battery sucked the first few days too. I've drained it to where it shut down like 4x now and charged it back to 100%. It's best lasted me 24 hours with light usage. That's only with a little texting here and there though. Barely any browsing or anything. I'm still trying to play with it, to see how long I can get with heavy usage. The first few nights the battery was horrible. It lasted 6 hours before it died on me.

+1 on the task killer not being needed.

I had advanced task manager on mine not to long. I was under the impression that it was actually helping...till I read on various forums that they are not needed and could possibly do more harm than good. I uninstalled it and things have been much much better. Battery life has also improved.

So to the OP, I would try losing the task killer. The OS is smart, it can take care of itself.

The battery usage program isnt all that accurate. I am not sure if they are just showing what is being used currently or within the last X minutes or what. I was on another forum and there is an app out there called Spare Parts. It will tell you battery usage from last reboot, last unplugged and overall.

For me the worse offenders were Meebo, and WeatherBug.

You want to go into Battery History, and then select partial wake usage, those are the apps that are being used when the screen is off

Believe it or not but the Battery Usage program is very accurate. And, yes, it IS only showing the programs that are currently running/pulling data.

Trust me though, if Battery Usage isnt showing it...you need not worry. I get literally the same, if not better, battery life without worrying about killing apps or whats running in the background. Again, like i told the OP, the OS is smart. Just let it run its course... Any unnecessary battery usage/drainage is purely user error.

i just checked battery usage, and its all petty stuff, but display is using 61%...and its at its dimmest setting...any ideas?

My display was always around there too when I dimmed it down all the way. It's usually around mid 40% now though. My battery life seems to be doing better also. At the moment, I'm trying to have the Hi AIM app, navi, and music all running while browsing to see how long my battery will last me. Not so bad at the moment. I'm only at 70% over 3 hours. I guess maybe you gotta give the battery some time.

Dolphin Browser

I have the Droid and have been pretty happy with the battery life. But ever since I've gotten Dolphin Browser, it uses 26% of my battery use. I try to end the task and hold back in the app to quit it, but it still shows up. Force closing does nothing. Any help?

Btw posted from my droid :)

My battery life have been excellent since the update. I would stop using the Dolphin browser until an update gets pushed out.
