Android Central Question

I just bought a new phone (Mi A2 Lite) and my first non-power-of-two SD card (200gb SanDisk). I adopted it as internal storage and and it seems to be working; however, it's reading as being a 256gb card with 65gb already used. Is this just how Android reads these middle-tier cards or is something wrong?

Cheers

Welcome to Android Central! Here's a potential explanation: https://www.quora.com/Why-is-SanDisks-famous-SD-card-200GB-and-not-256-or-another-multiple-of-8. It's possible the 56 GB of "already used" space is the padding that's described -- this kind of padding might help to prolong the life of the SD card.

Another possible explanation is in this Q&A section: https://www.amazon.com/ask/question...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU6448561. However, that doesn't explain why the system is reporting 56 GB of space already used.
