2013 google nexus won't charge as broken dc jack

My 2013 32gb google nexus won't charge - I had problems with the charging before this and the connector was wobbly before it stopped working completely. Took it back to shop as still under manufacturer warranty and they said it's a broken dc jack and not covered as repair costs more than new tablet. Can't afford new tablet so is there some way of getting mine fixed and what part is it exactly that needs replaced ? Also would pc repair shop be able to fix it and how much roughly should it cost ? Many thanks for any help.

Welcome to Android Central! Is it a Nexus 7? The 2013 Nexus 7 is capable of wireless charging, so you could get a cheap charging pad--you can find good ones for as cheap as $20 these days.

Which part? I'm not that technical, but from your OP, it sounded like only the port was broken. That shouldn't affect the wireless charging coil.

The report from the store said the dc jack was broken and would cost more than the tablet to replace ?

I'm not sure what they mean by DC jack. Do they mean the microUSB port, where you plug the USB cable into? Or do they mean some power connection deeper within the tablet?

I'm not sure I'll have a look for the report thing they gave me and send exactly what they've written and see if you understand it better than I do .

The exact message says ' the unit has a damaged DC jack which is not covered under warranty. We are unable to source parts and in our experience the cost of repair for this is usually almost equal to the cost of the unit' . I don't think that's any clearer than what I've already said tbh sorry.

As B. Diddy suggests, look into the possibility of wireless charging.
I've never heard the term 'DC jack' used, but I assume it means the male connector inside the charging port.
A repair shop or mall stand would surely be able to advise about both matters.

Thank you both for your reply just found out store misled me about guarantee and repair was covered so getting it sorted now and store are covering the cost for their mistake . Many thanks for all the help it was awesome .
