22 percent of Android users willing to dump their handset for iPhone 5

I won't be leaving my Android for iphone. I'd rather go back to Blackberry than iphone. I need a functional product, not a over priced toy. I've owned their computers and honestly I wasn't impressed all that much once I got deep into their inner workings. I always tell ppl that I won't buy another Apple product because I NEED to I'll buy one because I WANT to. All things considered, I wanted an android, I didn't know I needed it (that is, until I got it) and now I'm not looking back.

I dumped my iphone for the HTC One X :)

I do have a WP7 Dell venue pro for work. I even like that better than ios.

Loving my S3 and if it ever became unfunctional (like never!), then I'd just reactivate my TBolt. Like many, I don't like the Apple ecosystem.

I don't not own one, but the one I have use was great. At the price point I don't think it can be beat.

Ppl always say that the iPad has more games(and I'm sure it does), but I have been satisfied with the selection for my tf300. I am not saying the ipad is a bad device by any means, I just want more function than it offers and the premium price tag leaves me scratching my head sometimes.

most of the people I know that have an ipad use it for games, Istuff just seam to be entertainment hardware, to me, android just seam to be more work, business hardware. Besides, an Iphone just cant do what I need to make it worth it.

They will only switch if they can legally by the device in their country and if HTC and Samsung get their way BOTH the iPad and iPhone 5 will be banned from the USA. Look at today's Droid Life post about HTC complaining to the ITC and even the judge over the case said HTC made a strong case and it will be hard for Apple to defend. I hope it gets banned and it screws apple over to the point where they are broke from legal costs and no revenue is being produced from the iPhone or iPad. It would give them a taste of their own medicine!

These numbers aren't indicative of the whole. There are always people moving from brand to brand or O/S to O/S. There are probably hundreds if not thousands of people right now jumping from Android to iOS because they bought the HTC whatever cheapo phone or Samsung Galaxy "we only made this phone because it was cheap" that Cricket or Metro PCS was offering and weren't satisfied with the Android 2.2/2.3 experience. Yes there are people that genuinely don't like Android as well but I'm conveniently leaving them out just to fudge the numbers(everyone else does it, why can't I? ).

On the flip side there are probably a lesser number of people flipping from iOS to Android. These are also not the Appl-ologists that wouldn't touch anything Apple even if their lives depended on it. So if there is a report stating that 22 percent of people will swap between Android and iOS, I'd wager that this 22 percent(give or take a few) make up that fluctuation in the market that will switch to whatever is either newest, cheapest, or "trendy". Oh and also 22 percent of Android users "willing" to dump for the iPhone is not 22 percent that "will" dump Android.

Just my take, treat it as such ;-)

this.

of the people i have talked to that have had bad android experiences, most either have had low end android phones or a known buggy phone like the Tbolt (I had a Tbolt before and had lots of problems). they will invariably start out saying how their android sucks, crashes, or whatever. older phones with not enough ram and not enough internal memory are the worst. some just assume a newer phone is "good". they say that they paid $200 on a phone, but forgot to mention "no contract". find me a new no contract iPhone and then we can compare.

put it this way, if we gave everyone a chance to use a 3G and then a Rezound, and told them to browse the web, open different apps, e-mail, etc, I would be willing to bet what most people's answer would be

I'm glad I'm not the only one who had a bad experience with the TBolt! I made Verizon upgrade me to the Rezound because of the issues it had!
As to what you were saying about the 4S vs a Rezound on 4G, I 100% agree. When I go out with my friends and I have a webpage loaded before they even finish typing it in they tend to wonder how I did it, and when I show them on my beautiful 4.3 full HD display they gawk! But strangely enough they will still love their iPhones and not even consider Android! Like you love the screen, the performance and the speed of Android devices but yet you go back to a kid sized phone with minimal ram and processing power, not to mention a 3G only device! *Dumb people are dumb*

You have to give credit to apple, they made a smartphone that dumb people can use! And there are a lot of dumb people! Android is awesome, but not everyone can use it.

Come on now, I wouldn't go that far. They can't be that bad if some of thier ideas are implemented in other products.

Apple is suprisingly harder to use due to the lack of setting in apps. Whats the point of having to switch back to settings just to change one little thing? What about the way the settings are organized, who decided to put wireless and networking hidden under general, I would of put it right in the open (just like Android) for all to see!

??? The Nexus 7 rocks. After a few days with it I sold my iPad, which was inferior in most ways. We now have THREE N7s in our household.

And I bet all 3 nexus 7's didn't cost as much as 1 iPad lol. Apple to me at least thinks there better then anything else. There way over priced. And why buy a iPhone 5 when you can just get a galaxy S3 according to Apple it's the exact same thing.

the iPhone, other than the 3G fact, has good speeds. of course, it doesn't do true multitasking either. iOS doesn't need the processing power of android. then again, it is so bland.

yes and no. if you do things the way apple wants you to do them, then everything works well. once you go off the yellow brick road, then all goes to hell. I was trying to simply take songs and pictures off my wife's old iPhone to new one...it was practically impossible (without using 3rd party software). on my rezound, pull the microsd card, pop it in the new one, done.

The one thing that annoys me to no end is that it has no back and no menu button. on different apps, the back and menu buttons are in different locations. and you can't tab to other apps easily.

Those 22% are likely Android users stuck for the past 2yrs in a contract with an Eclair or Froyo device & if that's the case I don't blame them.

There's no way even a fraction of that 22% have Android devices with either ICS or JB.

Sucks to see them switch but if it weeds out the remaining people with old devices, I'm fine with them leaving - plus after all it's only temporary. They'll be back once they see the lack of customization even compared to their older devices & Android will be ready to welcome them home when they dump their iPhone 5's in 2yrs.

Also, at the rate Android is growing, it'll make up that 22% loss in about 2 months...just saying.

Bah apple products are to bland in taste for me (probably because they look the same :P) I like androids for their uniqueness and will never switch to apple crappy devices.

I would never ever consider an iphone. Why would I want to take a step,,, wait I mean a leap backwards??
If the survey was true,, I wonder what percentage of iphone users are dumping their iphones for android?
I hear more about that anyhoo , ha :)

Pretty sure those numbers are inflated. They need to have the responsibility of conducting a thorough survey, or at least getting an accurate sample size before saying something like this. My Brother in Law just dumped the iPhone for the Note, my other Bro-in-law dumped it for the S2 a few months back, my father in law wants to upgrade from the 4s to Android because of the screen size, and my sister in law is also dumping her iPhone for an S3 when her upgrade comes due. It swings both ways.
