3 Clicks, and I'm on 4.0.4

It worked it worked it worked. I did this for about 5 or 6 times and boom it worked. So stoked!

I didn't count how many times I tried. Under ten I suppose but was surprised when the download started. The luck of the draw...the wheel stopped spinning on the "win" space...maybe the exact combination of touches listed by the OP...I don't know.

Anyway I have only had this phone for a few weeks and wanted to feel the stock rom for a while before I start tinkering. I'll wait a few more days now before I root for the first time.

Thanks for the OP though because vzw drove me crazy rejecting os updates from RIM. I installed dozens of hybrids on my Blackberrys to keep them usable before the last one finally died. I didnt want to wait around any longer for this update to push. Thanks to the dev wizards too!

I saw the light and got a Gnex and there isn't a thing wrong with it!

And yes this is my first post, but I've been a member of AS for around a year, been reading rootz tweets for a while too. So if anyone wants to torch my first speech, at least suggest a good noob rom / kernel to try while your at it. Peace outView attachment 26909

Just got it done. Thanks OP. It literally took about 50 times but it finally went. I only kept trying because I remembered a similar process on my Xoom

I read about this method about 3 weeks ago....and it didn't work, probably because update not available. I decided to try it again after finding this method again.
After 3 try I thought it was just some BS again, but figured one more try wouldn't hurt. Got it on 4th try. Just updated 15 min ago. I would advise being on Wi-Fi. One thing I noticed is that radio signal is stronger. I had some radio issues before that were contributing to poor battery life. Hopefully they are fixed??? We'll see. Good luck

Thanks OP. I was a bit skeptical, but it worked on Wi-Fi on my 4th try. I had been hitting "check now" for the last couple days without luck.

For the people this trick worked for, did you get notified immediately? Or did it say "last checked for updates at x:xx" and take a couple minutes to pop up?

kept clicking and clicking and clicking and clicking.. then it popped up.

Been trying for the past two hours...
For the people who've had success, do you continuously hit the "Check now" button after the initial process? Or do you completely start over after it failed?

This has to be coincidental...Im almost convinced the people its working for just happen to be getting the update pushed at the time. I've been trying this off and on all night and nothing. I'm gonna just forget the "Check Now" button exists for a few days.

Holy ****!!!! I kept giving it a go and the update just showed up. Took about 25+ tries. So either it is a coincidence or the "trick" actually does (eventually) prompt the update.

So at this point, I will sincerely and directly apologize to anyone/everyone who was implicated with the doubts about trolling I expressed earlier. I am man enough to admit that I was wrong in my previously admitted pessimism.

Man, this is like a Mulder/Scully level conspiracy at this point ;).

Wow! I really didn't think this would work but after trying 50 or more times it actually works. It's 11:32 pm, I'm tired so I will find out tomorrow if my nexus has improved any.

I did this constantly watching the Boston game, every time I wanted to give up I kept seeing here that someone else said it worked. I'd almost bet I did it over 100 times, unreal. Finally when the game was over I was shocked as one time words filled the screen, unreal. This update better do something, lol. Thanks OP and everyone else for letting us know that it eventually will work.
