3aa fixed my G2

So, long story short, I recently moved from my G2 to a Nexus 6P, which I loved but which unceremoniously died 3 days before I was leaving on vacation out of the country (US). Thus, I was forced to pull out my recently retired G2 for the trip. I was quite annoyed that the night before I was actually scheduled to leave, I received notification of an OS update for the G2. I usually don't allow updates to install without researching, but I simply did not have the time in this instance; and, knowing that in the past the damn update simply self-installed eventually anyway, I went ahead and did the install (performing a FDR before and after). Much to my surprise, my G2 is now operating better than it has anytime since the damn Lillipop update last spring. In particular, my battery life is nearly what it was before Lollipop, as well; not quite, but darn close. I can easily get through an entire day on a single charge again. Some of the extreme lagginess I had been experiencing seems to have been alleviated, as well, and it seems to be having less difficulty with GPS location signals.

My replacement 6P is due to arrive today, and I'm looking forward to switching over again, but thought it was worth reporting and has left me wondering whether anyone else has had this experience with the 3aa update, as I haven't seen any reports on it here. It's almost making me have second thoughts about the 6P ... almost. ;)

Okay, what is this 3aa update and how do I get it? I have never been particularly fond of my G2 (I only got this instead of an S5 because it was $100 cheaper. Ya gets what ya pays for...). But like you, since the first lollipop update, this thing has been almost unusable. I will definitely go back to a Samsung device at my next upgrade, but for now I'm stuck with this G2 so anything I can do to make it tolerable...

edit: I just checked my software version and it says VS9803AA, so I am assuming that I already have this 3aa update. If so, then I can answer your question...
The 3aa update did nothing for my G2 issues. I still have the intolerable lagginess with almost every app. Now, that being said, I have not done a full reset on the thing. Perhaps that will help...?

I've learned the hard way that the only way to assure the best result with an OS update is to do a FDR before and after the install. Plus, I do not permit auto restore; I restore all apps manually. PITA, but it seems to give me the best results.

I was in love with my G2 for the first several months I had it: it had amazing battery life, was quick and snappy, had great GPS connections, the works. Then, one of the KK updates messed up a few things; but a subsequent KK update fixed most of those problems. Then came Lollipop, and my poor G2 was never the same. It became a virtually worthless POS in most regards, which really ticked me off because it was literally night and day before and after the Lollipop install.

I'll be switching back to my new 6P tonight (or over the weekend at the latest), so it's kind of moot, but it's just nice to almost have my old, once reliable G2 back.

I have never done a reset on this device so maybe that's what it needs. I'll try it this weekend I have time. I'm still gonna switch back to a Samsung device with my next upgrade but maybe I can make this G2 at least tolerable until then. I keep hoping there will be a 5.11 update (or maybe even Marshmallow...?) but so far, nothing.
