4G info for those in Tampa,FL

I was probably speaking too soon when I said 3G speeds were okay. Good speeds lasted about 2 days. Now getting 200k max download on various Sprint phones (my phone and 4 other phones belonging to my friends) in various locations around Tampa. Called Sprint - apparently everythings okay.

So after spending $200 on an Evo, being lied to by Sprint reps in June with the promise of 4G where I live, it appears that not only is there no 4G, but the Sprint 3G speeds make even ATT look good.

If what is being said here is true, and Clear want to cut back on expanding their network and lay off engineers, that's their choice, but when T-mobile have hspa+ and Verizon are pushing LTE, paying the early termination fee to get away from Sprint feels like a good deal. I think I'll give them another month and move if nothing changes.

Is it just me who feels hosed by Sprint over the promise of good 4G coverage in Tampa? Is anyone getting good 3G speeds in Tampa?

I'm with you. I broke a T-Mobile contract to join sprint based on the promise of improved customer service and blazing fast 4G in Tampa, pioneered by the new CEO who planned to take back the cell-phone war.

Turns out they have the same crappy customer service and infrastructure they had when I left them years ago (I never received my mail in rebate on my Epic, despite sending copies of it in 2-3 times after each conversation with customer service who claimed it was lost in the mail), and after bragging to friends and co-workers about the "4G revolution" with WiMax from Sprint, and it's infinitely scalable design, I have come to realize that the explosive launch of Sprint 4G in Tampa was more like a small puff of smoke and a wimper.

I have friends on other networks that get 3G speeds that wipe the floor with my 4G speeds, and don't even get me started on Sprint 3G around here. And I'm in South Tampa near downtown. Totally awful. It just kills my battery by dropping the 4G network and constantly "searching" -- nevermind the fact that once you enter a house or building, the 4G signal is gone.

I will definitely be paying to break the contract and switching to another network once I have time to check them out. This was Sprint's last chance in my book, and it was an "Epic" fail ;)
