4G LTE symbol and WIFI symbol both displaying when on WIFI

Not a huge deal, but definitely annoying. When on WIFI, the 4GLTE is still displayed in the status bar alongside the WIFI symbol. In the next update, I hope this gets fixed, as it's rather annoying, and takes up precious status bar space when in WIFI.

If you have Verizon go into the application manager find caller id app open it and disable it. That will fix the problem.

OMG...this did the trick. Just disable the Caller Name ID app. Jeez. I've been using data when I thought I was connected wirelessly.

I know its a few months old, but it could also be your phone trying to send an SMS or MMS message. I just noticed that I was having this issue and when I restarted my phone, I got a notification that my MMS wasn't sent...and the 4G icon had disappeared. Once I tried to resend it, it came on again. Even though I deleted the message I was trying to send, the phone doesn't realize that so it's still trying. Try stopping your messaging app and see if that helps also. I'm sure Caller ID may be the culprit for some, but it wasn't in my case since my phone is rooted and I already deleted that app.

I found the caller name id app and turned it off. What exactly does that app do? I'm new to the s4 and I'm still navigating all of its features....is this app something we seriously need or just a "nice to have"?

Thanks for all your help! Turning off this app did remove the 4g icon when wifi is running. :)

I just went and turned off the Caller ID app and it had no effect on the ghost 4G icon. So I guess it does not work for every phone?

I actually tried to remove the Caller ID app in my app manager (I picked "all" in the app menu). Oddly, it's not listed there. I ended up disabling it. I actually wanted to remove it, but since it's not listed in the app manager, I can't. Disabling it seems to have cleared up my issue with the 4G and WIFI icons being on at the same time, though.

Annoying and REALLY hard to see what you are actually on when only the Bar is displayed. Naturally ALSO ANNOYING is that the S4 constantly has unstable WiFi issues....when 20 other phones do not have the same issue at work....

I have HTC One M8 and unable to view any "Called Name ID" app. I checked for "All' apps apart from the 'Downloaded' ones but was able to locate only "City ID" app. I tried uninstalling this app but it doesn't work. Mobile data is consumed and 4G LTE icon is visible at top status bar of my mobile.

I had a call with AT&T and they shipped me a replacement device but it is also having the same issue. I have 2 mobile devices with me and have to ship back one ASAP. Is there something we can do to fix the issue.

I too am new to smart phone/android, and find managing apps problematic. I am also concerned about data usage vs wi-fi. I could not find the amp called "Called Name ID". UNTIL...I found the screen called "Data Usage". There you should have a graph, and below that, apps that are using the most data. OF course "Google Store" was the main offender, but scrolling down I found app "Called Name ID". Also in this screen you can tell an app to use only WiFi. So the app does exist even though you can't see it in the main apps pages.

I find apps hard to manage but this hidden app thing really frosts me up. Why not have a red x button with the running app screen? If you have rhapsody open, you just click the red x and it goes closes out.

It sill looks like there is 4G activity- though I'm not entirely sure. I'm positive this uncertainty is exactly what Verizon/apps corps wants to happen. The difficulties in managing apps and data/wifi is too blatant.
