4G surprise? (are not listed but is covered)

I was able to pick up a 4g signal near the Staples Center. I was on the freeway(passenger) but I managed to run a speed test using the Speed test app. Was able to get 1595kbps down and 993kbps up with a ping of 142ms. I was expecting the download speed to be much higher but I guess that's alright since 4g isn't official in Los Angeles yet and they're just testing it.

I have a question. 2nd post. Coming from webos. Jus wonderin if it's only main cities that 4g is covered? Like I live in a small subburb about 45 minutes outside of chicago and was wondering if I would be able to pick up a signal from this far away? Thanks

Amazingly enough, I picked up 4G in Tracy, California on Friday, now if only I actually spent more time there.. I'm in east bay, and nothing.

Wonder if we have any kind of hidden 4g here in Michigan...
Guess its time to start Checking it Out...

Anybody got any updated info on the 4G in NY and the NY cities? I had heard today sometime was going to be the day they turned it up for NY users. I still haven't gotten the signal yet though but if anyone knows any info that would be nice.

I hate you... so jealous and from what I heard tally sold more evos then jacksonville

I wouldn't be too jealous. Coverage isn't that great yet here.

Also, how's your 3g coverage where you are? I'm seeing some pretty abysmal speeds and coverage here in Jacksonville.

Like I mentioned in another thread I was able to pick up signal at a dodger game in los Angeles for a good 30 minutes but after that I wasbt able to use it.

I hope they get it up and running here in the twin cities, MN soon.

Guy at the MOA Sprint store said a couple months when I got my EVO. Lady on the phone, when I upgraded my broadband card a couple months back, said June... So who knows. I left my EVO with 4G on yesterday to see if it would grab anything, but nothing yet.

According to the maps posted here and other places coverage in the DC area is supposed to be limited to inside the beltway (495) 5-10 miles west and north in Herndon Virginia I was getting a faint signal from the 6th floor of my office. It tested at about 3mps down and around 1mps down.

Yo!!!

I picked up my EVO this morning and the guy at Radio Shack mentioned the area was covered by 4G. I instantly figured he was just trying to hype Sprint and was just talking because Rochester, NY is certainly not listed as having 4G coverage. Well much to my surprise, I have 2 out of 3 bars of 4G coverage!!!!!!

Anyone else finding this or is Rochester a hidden gem?

I have mine coming today and live in Rochester too :)
I know clearwire has 4g coverage here, but last I knew sprint was not set up to use the network yet (even though they hold the owning stake in clearwire). Business Week quoted sprint saying by the end of the summer.

All I know is its working in Rochester and improving every day!

4G working in Nashville and is supposed to be fully out by the end of Summer. North Nashville is covered very well not drops.
