Didn't work for me.On Verizon. Pulled out the Sim and checked for the update. LMY47Z popped up and updated. Then I just simply put the Sim card back in.
If you really want it early the trick that usually always works is pull Sim, factory reset phone, search for update, install update that pops up, then re install Sim. That's what I did for 5.1. Of course u have to set ur phone back up after the way u like it.
Instead of pooping in my Verizon sim card I just connected to wifi
Pulled the sim and did a factory reset now on 5.1.1.Seems to work fine on my Verizon sim N6.
Not always. My AT&T Nexus 6 got 5.0.2 before my friend's Nexus 6 from the Play Store. It just depends. That's ridiculous. If anything, the non-carrier versions will get it first. I have a Play Store N6 and got the OTA update to 5.1 as soon as I booted it.
Btw, since I'm running a custom rom and couldn't get OTA's, I decided to download the flashable zip of 5.1.1 stock android and it is smooth as silk. (unencrypted) I just backed up my custom rom install for when I get bored of using stock. I had to check out 5.1.1 stock though.
Some probably want it to fix issues with the phone that have been present since the 1st purchase. Believe it or not, not everyone has had the same experience you have had with the phone. If you want to get an update the same time as everyone else then get an iPhone. I don't understand why people get so worked up about updates. I didn't get a nexus for fast updates, I got it for stock android.

Google will unify Nexus 6 builds in future
OTA updates

Fans of the
Google Nexus 6
by Motorola
have been quite
perplexed these
past few days,
ever since multiple builds of the same
Android 5.1 update have been appearing. So
far, LMY47D, LMY47E, LMY47I, and LMY47M
have all reared their ugly heads, although
Google has only posted factory images for
the first two.
To make matters more confusing, AT&T and
Sprint users have received LMY47D as an
OTA update, T-Mobile users have received
LMY47M, Verizon is apparently shipping the
device with LMY47E, and international users
have received both LMY47D and LMY47I.
LMY47E appears to have the most updated
radio, although some users are reporting
better radio performance with LMY47E, while
others report worse performance.
However, in spite of this big mess, a little
birdie has tipped me off that Google expects
to have all of these various Nexus 6 builds
unified in a future OTA update, although we
don’t know yet when that will actually occur.
Apparently, Google allowed each carrier to
test slightly different builds on their
networks before approving the update, which
accounts for these differences. Luckily, it
appears that the actual software ROMs are
identical across devices.
So that’s the story. For now, I wouldn’t
worry too much about which version you
choose to flash or which version gets sent
to your device – it will all get sorted out in a
matter of time, and there really aren’t any
earth-shattering differences between them.
Thanks, Charlie!
