5 Reasons To Buy The Z2.

Re: Who has ordered the Z2?

We all do so. Though it will taste the ground some time eventually :(
The question is, if the glass will survive the hit or not...

Can anyone help? Or should I wait for enough people to experience :)
(I'll wait anyway)
Search YouTube for "Xperia Z2" and "hammer".

Does it come with various additions that enhance the experience. I like stock android and all but cant help but feel like its really dull since its so basic. Im hoping that the sony ui has various additions to enhance the experience and make it not so boring!

Yes, it does.

Re: Who has ordered the Z2?

My only concern at this moment is the glass back appears to be questionable in term of durability. One guy from XDA reported that his Z2 glass back got shattered just 3 days of use without damage or abuse.

Get the cover case. Congratulations, you have found a phone that you no longer have concerns about! Lol

Re: Who has ordered the Z2?

I think I've decided it against it because:
* I really don't want to import it to the U.S.
* I'm concerned about warranty work should it be needed
* I've been very underwhelmed by the videos, particularly those shot in 4K. The S5 camera just seems much better to me.
* No support by any U.S. carrier to this point

There's no doubt in my mind it's the prettiest phone out there, but that's just enough for me given the negatives as I see them.

Importing it is the same as buying it.

Buy from e-bagel on eBay. He provides his own warranty, in addition to Sony's.

How often do you watch 4k content on your 4k TV? If you don't have one, when do you plan on dropping a few grand on one between now and when you buy another phone?

If you want cutting edge phones, you can't always rely on carriers. Besides, aren't "carriers" and "support" oxymorons?

Re: Xperia Z2 phone of 2014 thus far?

Ken7:

These guys test camera lenses day in day out. They compile a 'what's best' of smartphones and currently Z2 is top. Will S5 beat it? Maybe, it's also a great camera, but right now Z2 has toppled the 808 pureview, no small achievement.

I think it's the 4K camera output that's really bothering me with the Z2. When you compare them to the many samples that can be found from the S5, there honestly is no comparison. I've been really disappointed by that as Sony made such a big deal about it. I'm sure the pictures from the Z2 will be great.

With that said, I'm sure the overwhelming majority of people could care less about the 4K output from the camera. For me it's a big deal.

I've actually got a 4K camcorder and will be buying a 4K TV this summer and a 4K computer monitor within the next few weeks. So I do have a use for this kind of content. In the interim, as I've found, even down rez'd 4K>HD looks so much better than any HD camera I've ever seen. So even with no 4K display, there's still a use for quality 4K footage.

Re: Who has ordered the Z2?

So you got the shattered glass too? Damn, this beautiful thing is fragile as fuq :(

Have you contacted the seller for a warranty exchange? What did he say?

Also, I just realized that you are from Twin Cities area. I am from Rochester :)

Re: Who has ordered the Z2?

whew....received mine today in NYC via DHL. Deliriously setting the thing up tonight.

Re: Who has ordered the Z2?

There are a load of themes that Sony have created for this phone officially that are available too.

Re: Xperia Z2 phone of 2014 thus far?

Ahh gotcha. Completely forgot about the Sony Ericsson phones. I never had one but was always intrigued by them.

I've done a little research and it seems that that stereo speakers aren't a new thing, there are a bunch of phones that have them. It seems though that HTC finally made them sound good, or at least better than any other phone. That and every one that I saw didn't have them on the front.

Cool, thanks for letting me know! I would have believed HTC was the first.

I think Sony would be very happy to hear that you completely forgot about the Sony Ericsson phones lol.

HTC definitely focused on their speaker quality in a way other manufacturers had not. When my wife heard about the speakers on the HTC One, she wanted it. She doesn't like flagship phones, but she looooooves listening to music. I ended up buying her one of the HTC Desire models that had similar speakers because she wouldn't let me buy her the One lol

Re: Who has ordered the Z2?

I'm excited lol. Still using my razr maxx which I still love but this one is the first to of got my interest in 2.5 years

Had I told you what I've been using, you'd be lyao big time :P

Intrepid:

Where have you read that the Oppo Find 7 has swift battery drain? The find 7 is superb, amazing camera which can take 50mp images, it has a removable battery which the Sony doesn't, carbon fibre rear, that gorgeous blue pulsing notifying light and its cheap too.

I think you are way underselling it.

And I have a Z2 on pre order so I'm no fanboy.

In other news, nice to see the Z2 is now judged to be the best camera a smartphone now.

Rob,

I was merely speculating that the 2K version of the Find 7 will struggle with battery endurance. That screen should theoretically be quite the power hog. The Z2 and F7-2K are about the same price, and the battery on the Z2 is larger. Plus, it has a notification light too. I think they're comparable in features when it comes to hardware. I know nothing of the ColorOS based on Android 4.3...

I'm debating purchasing the F7 1080p version myself... even though I already have the Z2. My wife would murder me for buying a second phone for no reason lol. Still, it's tempting...

Re: Xperia Z2 phone of 2014 thus far?

Sorry, and I don't mean to be rude, but the so-called high-resolution pictures in the link you posted really suck.
When you view them on 100% zoom on the screen, they are just terrible imho.
Something wrong with my eyes?

They lack every aspect of a good picture, it's all digitally overlayed several shots it seems.
Like a panorama of pictures combined together then highly processed and looks like as if it is enlarged artificially.
It looses the whole clarity in full zoom though.

One of the principles of engineering: There is a limit to optimization :)
One must pay the price for premium. If that sensor is only good for e.g. 13Mpixels, then one must not expect miracles.

Considering in a pragmatic point of view... I sincerely don't think those results are usable if very very high resolution is my expectation.

I'm not sure if I made my point clearly, but as far as I'm concerned, pixels were not authentic in those samples.

Again, I'd prefer a real 5Mpixel sensor with optical zoom if zooming is my concern.
Even cropping a proper 20Mpixel picture down to 5Mp in order to zoom in x2 is acceptable.
But the exact opposite is senseless in my opinion...

It's all personal taste after all...

Even an 8MP with optical image stabilization is worth more than patched-together 13mp photos.
