5G Plan required?

I know a 5G compatible plan is required to use the 5G capabilities.... But that's not a big deal to me right now. I live in rural GA and there's not even a market with 5G near me. So would this phone work normally on my AT&T grandfathered unlimited plan? If not I guess I'll just get an S10 Or Note 10. Currently on the iPhone 11 Pro Max and getting tired of it.

It will work on your plan. It only uses 5G when 5G is available. It has 4G, 3G, and 2G band capability.

Verizon told me if there is no 5G service where I live I would not pay for 5G plan. Any Verizon users know if this is true?

Yikes, did not know some carriers were charging "5G plans" :-/. I would not even consider upgrading if T-Mobile did that.

Yup, and on the S20 pre-order page it says 5G at no extra charge. So they say both depending where you are looking

Not talking about 2G. My current SIM is ATT 4G LTE. No need or desire for 5G, especially the added cost.

So if you get a 5G phone lets say Verizon for instance and it's not here yet then you'll use 4G I know but when it does come out will they make you switch to the 5G plan or can you just stay and use 4G? We plan on skipping the 20 series and waiting for the 30 and keeping our 10's. I just like reading about the 20's and can't wait to hear everyone's thoughts. I told my husband the only reason to upgrade for us is to get more money for our 10's now then we will next year. I said it would only be worth it to upgrade if we did the Ultra but it's too big for me. He said well you hold your phone with a popsocket you would probably like the bigger screen. I kind of do want the Ultra but I don't like none of the colors honestly.

LOL! No we really can't afford it right now and we love our 10 plus actually. I wish the Ultra had a pretty purple color like my 9 plus was. I also wish I had done the pre pre order though for the extra $35 if we were going to do it. But I knew deep down we were going to skip this round. It's ok you all can tell me all about it. I'm really wondering if the camera is that much better. And I just got an article on Google on my phone about the S30 and Android 11 already.
