Is a factory reset recommended as a general rule for this update?
Coming from 5.X? I'd say most definitely. Any major update I'd say a reset would be in the works.

Back to losing 10% per night
I did a factory reset and I am still losing about 6% battery overnight, most drain from cell standby, I see some folks have been losing on 1-2%
I did not do a factory reset after upgrading to 6.0.
This surfaced on the Moto Forums and offers more understanding of what Doze Does!

'...maintenance windows...' eh? Now I know about the whiskery looking Awakes on the chart.
So last night I turned off WiFi and went to sleep with 47%. I slept for 7 hrs and woke up with only losing 4%. Doze seems to be broke when WiFi is enabled.
I lose about 4-5% over 8 hours with everything (cell, data, wifi, bluetooth, GPS, etc.) turned on.
How do you access Doze?
My wife's aging Note 2 has ADHD and drops serious battery since an errant 4.4 Android update. It comes and goes but mostly its always on.
