6.0 Marshmallow for the DROID TURBO 2

Re: When is Droid Turbo 2 getting Marshmallow?

I got Marshmallow this weekend. I'm part of the Moto soak and got the notification last Friday morning, installed it Friday night and I've been using it this weekend and today. It's not a whole lot different but it did seem to improve battery life. Off charger about 15 hours and listened to audible for about 3 hours through a bluetooth earpiece, did a little Facebook and chatting and email and only went down about 23%.

Did it improve screen on battery life? Or only standby?

Re: When is Droid Turbo 2 getting Marshmallow?

Well... I didn't have a lot of "screen on" time to judge it, I used Audible for 3 hours solid while I was at work using a Bluetooth headset so it was running playing the audio and streaming it to the earpiece so I guess that's more like "talk time" and it didn't drain that much at all. I may try watching something on it while at work tomorrow just to see how it reacts. Also, had wifi off all day today so I was on 4G. We'll see how it holds up.

According to Droid Life it starts today.

Re: Droid Turbo 2 Marshmallow soak test

I get the feeling that unlocking Verizon phones isn't a priority.... and it's much harder than it once was.

Re: When is Droid Turbo 2 getting Marshmallow?

It's always a batch rollout, so some people will get it before others. Has anyone gotten it yet today?

Also, do you need a Verizon sim in the phone to receive the update? I have my sim in my 2nd phone right now and don't really feel like switching it out.

Don't take this as 100% correct but I think you will have to have a Verizon sim. I think people that use at&t phones on cricket have to switch to an at&t sim to get updates.

I am in the same boat as you. Have my Verizon sim in a different phone. I don't think you need a sim in the phone to get the update, but I am not 100% sure. Guess we'll find out today!

Re: When is Droid Turbo 2 getting Marshmallow?

Do we still think the Marshmallow update is coming today? It's after noon on the East Coast and I haven't heard a peep from anyone.

Re: When is Droid Turbo 2 getting Marshmallow?

I've been lied to by Verizon before. Not expecting anything today. But would be cool if it did roll out today. Oh well, back to work.

Re: When is Droid Turbo 2 getting Marshmallow?

Roll outs always happen slowly. They generally push to a small number of devices the first day (like, 1000), then wait to see if there are any issues. Then they push to a few more day 2 and day 3. As long as everything goes smoothly, they start rolling out to more and more people starting day 4. It usually takes about a week for every phone to see the update; it is not unusual to have your phone not see the update, particularly on day one.

Sometimes they push it out faster, but that's usually for security patches or minor Android version updates (i.e., 5.0.0 to 5.0.1).

Also, unless something has changed with this phone, you do not need a Verizon SIM to get the update. It should be available via WiFi or any valid internet connection. It's rolled out by IMEI number (which I believe are chosen at random to receive it as the update rolls out), not by SIM activation.

Re: When is Droid Turbo 2 getting Marshmallow?

A Verizon sim is needed to hook up to the update server if not it usually gives a error saying can't connect or something like that

This is not true. I just tried without a sim card and it connected just fine.
