6.16.215 ics update leak

Hard reset.

There's no reason to suggest a factory reset before finding out the rest of the details pertaining to usage during that 4 hours. The especially if it's his first time he got bad battery like that. If the screen was on for like 3 hours during that time then that life is what should be expected, as with the heat

Anthony said hard reset. I think he was talking about holding the power and - volume buttons down until the phone restarts.

Ok I've been using it for a straight 4 hours. But I've gotten at least 8 with heavy use and screen at full brightness and it would be at 40%

A hard reset not a factory data reset. He is showing us that the phone has been on for a little over 4 hrs and by looking at the graph its a steady decline, a decline that seems to suggest there may be something hogging the battery consistently, something that my be causing a high CPU rate to get stuck in one spot. A hard reset may correct that problem. Can you check your CPU usage (app: CPU Spy).

How long has your screen actually been on. Go into battery stats and click on the screen it will give you a time.

Thinking about going back to .211 now that I've been using .215 for almost a week now.

What makes you want to go back to .211

I haven't been getting that good battery performance as i thought i would. Which is why installed the leak. Compared to .211 im not seeing much of advantage in battery life. For example I'm going from 100% - 90% with the lowest display settings synced to wifi just texting on and off for an hour. I've done the partition wipe more then 3x and it still the same.

Not sure where I first read of this, nor am I bright enough to understand how or why it would help, but it seems to do just that.

Give this a try:

After charging the phone to 100%, and before disconnecting the power cord from the phone, turn it on, un-lock the screen and use the phone a little (check weather, read some tweets...anything), then turn it back off and unplug it.

It is said that there is a bug of some sort that prevents the phone from going into 'deep sleep' and that unplugging it before turning it on causes it to use the battery heavily during the early part of the discharge cycle and results in a sharp decline from 100% to 90%. Many of the screenshots posted will show that drop and then a more gradual slope as the discharge cycle continues.

If any of you can provide a techy explanation of 'deep sleep' or explain how /why this works, please do!

Edit: Oooops, just realized this might cause a calamitous case of thread drift...sorry.

So let me.get this order straight, plug in>100%>turn screen on>check stuff>turn screen off>unplug. Is that right?

Slight problem. I get to the last step, that SHOULD begin the update process, but it gives me another screen. My options are:
../
META-INF/
patch/
recovery/
system/

Which one do I select?

Edit: Nevermind. My windows brain took over where I always need to unzip the contents of a zipped folder. Deleted the unzipped folder and put the zipped folder in. Updating now...

If I want to revert back to .211 do I need to have usb debugging mode on?

Yeah you should have just put the whole zip on the card, glad you got it figured out.

if that does not work you'll need to do a factory reset for it to work. I experienced it with the latest .211 update. Hope that helps.:)
