I don't have a Gnex but I have a evo design 4g by Sprint.

I really feel that as much as us consumers love technology and considering the fact then when we buy these phones with new contracts they should at least function properly as a phone. I believe all phones may have a couple bugs here and there but a drop in connectivity and losing signal when making a phone call is completely unacceptable to say the least.

However, businesses are in business to make money and as much I hate to say this once you sign that 2 year contract they can care less. 6+ months with the same issues and no fixes or even a press release or even a sign of concern from the company is just bad business.

This is my second android phone, I had the OG evo before this. The OG evo has KNOWN charging port issue, the damn charging port gets so loose that it's literally shaking around in the phone and the charge stops completely. When connected to the PC it's basically beeping (my pc) telling me it's connected and then it's not connected a second later. I went through 4 evos all with the same problem. Sprint to this day says the EVO has no issues at all and I had a pay $35 bucks a couple times whenever the port went bad.

I got tired of the lag, constant freezing up and running out of memory on my EVO and sold it to someone off craigslist and bought the EVO design 4g.

I have the same loose charging port issue and this phone has a bug that the camera opens up and runs and it kills the battery. I've come to the conclusion to just live with it.

I don't think Sprint, nor Verizon, nor HTC give a heck about your issues or concerns, you paid, you signed the contract, you live with it....

I don't sign contracts anymore, just get a cheap android off craigslist and activate it. I encourage everyone with a faulty nexus to stop looking at specs, customization and just sell it and buy something that acts like a phone.

I don't care for the Iphone but they seem to make pretty good hardware and usually they address your issues, they test the phones very good and usually it's clean of issues. I never HAD a iphone but from people I know this seems to be the case.

Android is just laggy, if not now eventually it will slow down and lag a bit, it's the OS not the specs of the phone that's the cause. I still love android but it's something I've come to realization with.

Hold off of signing new contracts and wait till the reports are in before you buy a phone. It's not a rush, at the end of the day it's communication that's the main issue and everything else is secondary.

Rooted and Rom'd (kind of the whole point of buying a Nexus device) and been running 4.0.4 for a long time now. It runs great...you should try it.

Excellent advice, I bought something that acts like a phone but need to get around to selling my POS Nexus as I'm giving up hope on a resolution to these issues anytime soon.

I'm done with contracts as well. They are just not worth it anymore. Best to wait a few months and buy it discounted outright. As for GNex, I will see how the update works before I resign it to backup status.

I'll see what the update takes care of. If it doesn't fix the issues I'll either wait for the Fighter or see what the iPhone 5 has in store. If neither fits what I want, I'll get a rezound or incredible 4g off eBay and wait until I'm due for an upgrade next winter.

I got a DX in my sock drawer I will trade even up to anyone in exchange for their Nexus as long as its in good condition Lol

Yeah, noticed that after the fact; however, does the misspelling detract from the intended intent of the word? In fact, kinda funny that you're almost whining about me misspelling whine! :D Oh, the irony!

I really wish the RAZR MAXX had a better screen. Actually I just wish Verizon got the One X. I'd so trade my Galaxy Nexus for either.

The One X definitely has some cool hardware. Don't like the locked down bootloader though. For that reason alone, I'm still happy to be rocking my GNex! :D

But haven't you seen the commercial, with that phone you can shoot HD video and take still shots at the same time !!!
End sarcasm

I got a good laugh when I saw that..

Im up for upgrade, and I WANTED to get this phone really bad. Then I started reading on the forums. Thanks for saving me a huge headache.

That being said, instead of getting the Gnex, I think im going to wait for SGS3. I like Samsung, I had the Fascinate. That phone had so much potential....

The Rezound is lame. Lame in the fact that the Dev community ran off Protekk. He figured out the RIL and didnt release it to the Rezound community because most of them are all childish little brats. Look at all the good Dev's the Rezound lost due to the community attitude running them all off.

The Motorola Droids suck, because its Motorola and we all know why. The Incredible 4G isnt that outstanding, although I like that it has Sense 4 and ICS along with the S4. Everything else about it is tame.

That doesnt leave much else on Verizon, which sucks. Where I live AT&T (POS) and T-Mobile do not get good service and Sprint is hit or mis.

So in short, I wanted to have this phone so bad, then I read the forums. SO im stuck waiting for something to come to Big Red worth getting :) Ever time I talk to VZW rep they say, "Yeah, I would not get that phone...get a RAZR!!!!!"

I've been offered a replacement phone 3 times and 3 times I refuse. If it doesn't have the same specs and oc as my nexus then I don't want it.

You based your decision off of Android Central forums, seriously? Try going to Rootzwiki or XDA Developers. Complainers on Android Central represent the vocal minority when it comes to the GNex. This is the ONLY forum I'm active at that people complain.

The GNex is hands down the best Android I've ever used!

The Verizon forum has many complaints, as does androidforums.

I don't understand how people can say the complaints are of the minority.

Not necessarily directly only at you SOTK, but to ALL who keep making that statement.
Show me a statistic that shows more people are satisfied than dissatisfied.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but when people throw out comments like that, I like to see their proof of legitimacy rather than their own possible biased opinion.

I would also like to see that stat broken down between those who call themselves techies that like to tinker and those who just wanted a new phone.

i was bone stock 4.0.2 with a locked bootloader and unrooted up until 2-3 weeks ago, and yeah it was perfect for me then too. i always root, not out of necessity, but because i can. i risk nothing by rooting. you do realize its a developer phone, right? you do realize that any unlocking and rooting is 100% reversible, right?

i feel bad for you dude. just return it or get another phone. it's clear that no amount of convincing is going to change your mind anyway

I love when people misuse this phrase.
Developer phone doesn't mean it was built for customers to tinker with it, it means it's a developer phone for GOOGLE.

I own four other devices and the forums on Android Central for those devices are void of complaints. Why is it only the Galaxy Nexus forum that is full of complaints and issues if it is only a "vocal minority"? I would expect all five device forums to have a "vocal minority" complaining about so called non-existent problems if what you say is true.

Also, go into any Verizon corporate store and hear what the representatives have to say about the Galaxy Nexus. I've been to three corporate stores in my area and two of them flat out told me not to get a Galaxy Nexus as they have more returns then any other device and I over-heard the third store (I wasn't in there for a phone myself) tell a customer who was fondling the Galaxy Nexus, "that phone is giving Android a bad name". So it has to be more than a "silent minority" for Verizon to be badmouthing the phone. Oh yeah, call verizon level 2 tech support with a issue for the Galaxy Nexus and all they can tell you is "yeah, that's a known issue and a software fix with be released soon" as they don't even want to deal with troubleshooting these GN issues anymore.

The other forums you listed seem to be forums for those who view this phone as a hobby not for the general user who purchased this phone to simply use as the smartphone it was marketed as being.
