6+ months is too, too, long.....

I look forward to seeing your eBay listing for an almost working Galaxy Nexus.

I'm going to be using two phones silly. The more the merrier and I like keeping up with technology.

"The purpose of the Nexus phones is to offer a "pure Android" experience,[1] in which the phones come free of carrier or manufacturer modifications and with an unlockable bootloader[2] to allow for further development and end-user modification.[3] Nexus phones are considered the "flagship" Android devices."

You can't quote Wikipedia to state what a Nexus device is as anyone, including you or me, can edit that and make it say whatever we want it to.

Probably shouldn't quote that particular definition of what a Nexus is. Considering the "pure" and "modifications" parts kinda suggests that the VZW Galaxy Nexus isn't a real Nexus and as well all know it is most certainly a real Nexus, as long as we ignore all of the previously accepted, implied, imagined or suggested definitions of the term Nexus.

It took me six weeks of writing stuff down when I had dropped calls Mic cut .....etc and calling customer service. Verizon exchanged it for free. I was way past my 15 days of the return policy. When I picked up my RAZR MAXX in the store I told an Verizon employee they should remove those phone off the shelf and force Samsung to correct the issues

Ok, buddy, perhaps you're stuck in 2005? Those words have been repeated by Google exectives etc. You don't like my reference, search the internet yourself and find them. The Nexus is what it is.

No, I don't think that quote even remotely implies the Verizon nexus is a faux nexus, nor does the majority. Certainly not anyone running a custom rom etc. Don't take my word for it...see for yourself.

I'm not implying it is a "faux nexus" i'm just saying that this "developer phone" that everyone keeps throwing around has nothing to do with end-users having the ability to root or rom. Means that it is a platform for developers to develop and test new software on a new "clean" OS.

Semantics. Google and every Tom, Dick, and Harry out there know that the Nexus line of phones is geared to the end user demographic. This demographic may indeed be the app developer person(s) first but includes the end user/rooting community. Read any tech article. Anybody who buys the phone NOT knowing this is uninformed.

No more "uniformed" then those that have some misguided view that rooting and loading custom rom's on the phone is expected if you buy a GN and want a working phone. Many don't want to root or rom and for anyone to say "then you shouldn't have bought a GN" is just plain silly as it is a smartphone first and anyone should expect it to work when then buy it.

You don't go out and pay the money a NEW car demands that has all kinds of issues with the engine and trasmission and then take it home and rebuild the engine and transmission and say "that car is known to be easy for a mechanic to work on so you should expect to have to rebuild the engine and tranny as soon as you get it home from the dealer". No different for a smartphone regardless of how easy it is to modify in the future.

Actually the reason a good friend and myself bought a nexus was we both wanted it so we wouldn't need to hack it for it to stay updated. If I was going to flash roms I would of stayed with my old phone and put ICS on it.

I bought my Nexus expecting a phone that worked. Instead I've gotten a phone that has increasingly gotten worse over time. The only answer appears to be for me to fix it myself or continue to just live with it.

Same.

Do any of you NOT understand the concept of a new OS version? It's the same with purchasing the newest Windows OS. You're naive if you think you're going to get a bug free experience right out of the gate with a newer OS (upgrade).

Your auto analogy is flawed because you are still missing the point. People DO buy a potentially buggy phone because they want to be a part of the cutting edge and accept the consequences that come with that. Case in point, I'm one such individual. There are many, many like me. I've said this before; when I bought the Nexus, I was warned by two corporate store Verizon reps to expect bugs (it was an unneeded warning as I knew what I was getting myself into). That's the key point of this whole argument, in my opinion. I informed myself. Go back and research any Nexus and tell me if there weren't bugs with the newest iteration of Android everytime. Personally, I believe this is the price you pay for wanting to be a part of the cutting edge. Further, you are not being a smart consumer if you're buying a phone without completely understanding the nature of cutting edge technology.

As I have admitted several times on this site and in this discussion, there's no doubt that people received lemons of this model in addition to experiencing software growing pains of ICS; however, there are just as many (maybe even more) who haven't experienced ANY of the reported problems (I am one of them).

Maybe there are people who bought this phone to not unlock/root/flash. I guess what I'm saying is that i do not understand those people in the least. There are plenty of phones with locked bootloaders and skins which I am sure run virtually (as much as a piece of tech can) bug free. Some of these phones will even eventually get ICS. You and others can pound your fists and stammer all day that you shouldn't have to unlock/root/flash (and that's your choice) but the GNex and every Nexus before it are unlocked so that the user can mod the ever living heck out of it and improve their experience as the OS evolves. The Nexus is the most "open" Android there is and is virtually unbrickable. There's a reason for this. Google knows it. Developers know it. End Users know it. If the average consumer doesn't, they have nobody to blame but themselves.

Lastly, I'm sorry if anybody has experienced a lemon (not fun), but there are solutions.

I remember when I upgraded to the new iPhone 4 and the new version of iOS, 4.0. I had issues with Exchange. You can imagine my aggravation with the phone for the entire 3 weeks it took Apple to push out an update that fixed the bug I was having.

Then get rid of it and stop complaining here.

I paid nearly $800 for the piece of crap. I think I have the right to complain. I didn't know you owned this website though. Good to know!

Having me stop complaining won't really matter much anyway. Look around, the vzw Galaxy Nexus has a horrible rep. People everywhere are complaining about it. Just look at all of the negative blog postings that have popped in the last few weeks about it. The phone will go down in history as the worst Nexus device ever. It is a fiasco, a joke. Sorry if you can't handle that. Or if it makes you sad. But it is reality. Search on twitter for vzw Nexus, you won't see very many positive things said about it. Overwhelmingly you will see complaints. Obviously there has to be some reason why.

Come on dude. We're all registered users here. We can't complain? If the GNex section was just for happy owners, there would be tumbleweeds rolling through here. I want to be a happy GNex owner...I really do. We all do. Please VZW/Google/Samsung, will you make us happy?:'(

Sell it then. Seeing as how you apparently think its the worst phone since the Zach Morris brick, you might as well drop it and stop complaining.
