6+ months is too, too, long.....

Call Verizon and complain. I don't buy the developer phone excuse though. It should work as advertised. I love ICS and won't even consider another phone until there are other ICS phones available. Mine was only stock for a few days but has always worked well. I got the Charge because my Fascinate kept dropping calls and just plain not receiving calls. They offered me a few phones to choose from as well. The Charge kept screeching during calls ... I went through 3 of them but now it works great.

I really don't understand these threads. If you don't like your phone and feel its a lemon, work with Verizon. Be persistent.
This is what people like yourself said when everyone was having problems with their Fascinate. Eventually Verizon said, "screw it", and gave everyone with a Fascinate a choice of 3 phones. Personally, my complaining about that piece of crap paid off. "Working with Verizon" as you say, will do absolutely nothing. Everyone's phone has the same problem, including yours before you rooted and rom'ed.

Verizon has offered me a different phone countless times throughout my time with them when I've had bad history with a phone.
What is the point of going through phone after phone after phone that all have the same hardware/software/design problem?

While I understand the whole "I shouldn't have to unlock/Rom" argument, its really old and illogical.
You just contradicted yourself with this statement. You "understand", but you find it "illogical"? Maybe you really don't understand.

People have a solution at their grasp which will cure 99% of what ails their phone woes but choose not to take advantage of the solution. I find that illogical and just pure stubbornness.
Personally, I have no problem rooting, but why is it so hard to imagine that ROOTING/ROM'ing IS NOT FOR EVERYONE!!!! And here are just a few reasons why:

1) Rooting is risky. It's a small to moderate risk, but it's still a risk. That's why everyone puts a DISCLAIMER in their instructions. If you aren't careful, and sometimes EVEN IF YOU ARE, you can really screw up your phone. And if that happens, help is not always readily available to correct it.

2) Rooting will void your warranty. That can make some people a little uneasy. Sure, in some cases you can go back to stock, but you gotta agree that to the novice, it can be just as difficult (if not more) to return to stock.

3) Rooting is never a sure thing. Sometimes roms can become unstable and other problems may arise with going from rom to rom. When I had my Fascinate, for some reason, a rom would work fine for a couple of weeks, and all of a sudden become unstable. Bottom line, if you root, prepare to be "all in". Some may not be prepared for all that.

4) Is it so hard to understand people get pissed when they are misled? I expect my phone to operate as advertised. How many people would've got a GNex if you told them they would have to sacrifice the most basic functionality of their device unless they ROOT their device?

Please, why don't you just all do yourselves a favor and lose the phone? No amount of crying and whining is going to help. Be proactive.
I find it sad that when you pay hundreds of dollars for a device and go into a 2-year contract agreement for a device that admittedly by many doesn't work as advertised, many of you view our complaints as "whining" and "crying". When did it become wrong to want to get exactly what you paid for?

you do realize its a developer phone, right?

I think the majority of you don't understand what "developer phone" means as you continue to throw that out there like it has something to do with it being made to root and/or load custom roms. Developer phone means it is the platform that they can develop and test apps on a new OS. It has nothing to do with you unless you're an app developer so why do you guys keep hanging your hat on "developer phone" and telling the rest of us that we shouldn't have the phone if we're not willing to root or load custom roms because it's a "developer phone"?

All wonderful, thoughtful responses.
Bottom line though what have you accomplished?
Zilch. Well maybe you got to blow off some steam.

Nope my phone has never had an connection issue, squeech sound ,or data drop ,or dropped calls .While you can speak for your issues they were not mine .I root and rom every phone I had just cuz I like to.I however had to root the Dx because of lag,and phone lockups

It took three phones for me to get the perfect one... but I seriously think of it as bad luck. Look at it this way, most people that purchased the Gnex aren't on these forums. Then, from the ones that actually ARE on these forums, most of the commenters and thread-starters are people having problems with their devices. Odds are that the countless people that have working Gnex's don't feel the urge to start any threads. Now, I'm not defending the phone or anything, but comments like "25% odds of getting a working phone" or "all of them have these problems" are a little too generalized. What I'm trying to say is that the population of thread-starters and complainers on the AC Galaxy Nexus forums isn't a good "population size" to extrapolate these sorts of comments from. People that have problems are the people that post. Simple as that, and you can't generalize this as being an ultra crappy phone. As a matter of fact, I have numerous friends that are NOT AC tech junkies who own the Gnex on Verizon, and each has had a flawless experience. I didn't, but persistence eventually fixed it. There are more of us out there lol.

Um, no. Had problems with the Storm 1. Verizon let me out of it and I went to a BB Tour. My wife was let out of her BB Bold and was given a Droid 3. I was let out of a Storm 2 and went to the Fascinate. If you aren't a jerk (hint, hint), you can get a lot accomplished with a Company.

Everyone's phone has the same problem, including yours before you rooted and rom'ed.

Wrong. My GNex didn't have dropped calls, random reboots, or poor 3G/4G handoffs before unlocking/Rom'ing

What is the point of going through phone after phone after phone that all have the same hardware/software/design problem?

Um, pretty sure Storm, Bold, Tour, Fascinate, GNex, etc all have different hardware/software so not sure what you're talking about.

You just contradicted yourself with this statement. You "understand", but you find it "illogical"? Maybe you really don't understand.

Please look up contradiction in the dictionary again. I 'understand' the argument. Didn't say I agree with it or find it a logically thought out argument. I find the argument decidedly illogical.

Well, you just keep using your flawed phone. I will smile and think about you every time I operate my perfectly working but unlocked/custom rom phone. :)

I find it sad when people spend hundreds of dollars on tech they don't understand. I find it sad that people don't know how to research before spending hundreds of dollars on tech. I find it sad that people would rather come here and complain instead of being proactive and fixing their situation. Again, you just keep on being mad and miserable if that works for you.

The problem with your theory is that there are hundreds of you on this forum that don't necessarily "start" threads on this subject but chime in and say yours is the "perfect phone" or "not having any issues" yet you ALL have rooted and rom'd your phones to solve these issues. It is obvious the phone has issues and is silly when people argue in here that the phone is perfect and there are no issues and those of us with issues are "complainers" when we have no desire to jump through hoops and root/rom a phone that should work out of the box.

You can't argue that the phone is perfect if you're not stock as there would be no reason to root and rom if the phone were perfect.

Those like yourself who have never, ever had phone issues. Trust me, I am really really really happy for you. You are so fortunate to never have had a problem with your phone. Actually, I wish that I had your phone so that I can experience the unbridled joy that you must have to be the owner of a trouble free device. Where did you get it? Maybe if I get one from the same source, I can have one of the "good ones". I am glad to know that not every phone has problems. If you ever sell yours, can I have first dibs? Congrats to you, you lucky dog. :)

Did my complaining hurt your feelings? You are happy with your phone, and I am happy that you're happy. I will continue to be miserable until I have a workable solution, which may in the short term include rooting my phone as you have. But why is my misery a concern to you? If my whining bothers you so much, why do you keep visiting and hanging around this thread? This is a misery thread. Go away and start a happy thread. Maybe I will join you once my issues are resloved.

My nexus is fine for me. I get occasional reboots. Only have mic issues when im on the phone with my mom(who has a AT&T iPhone 3gs), and no one else. Don't know about data handoffs since I'm lucky enough to have LTE at home, work and everywhere else I go. There is some lag when hitting the recent apps button, as well as screen rotation. But overall the phones not the worst. My Droid 2 was the worst. I've rooted and rommed all my phones(G1,G2,D2, and TBolt.) But mostly cause I wanted to over/under clock the proc, screenshots, or get rid of carrier bloat and skins. I like vanilla so on the last two phones that's the main reason plus get rid of lag from the skins and bloat(Blockbuster damn you). But I am over the flashing days, got home repairs to focus on now. That's why I have a nexus fully stock. Vanilla android, no bloat, no skins, and hopefully more ota updates. I also bought a wifi Xoom for the same reasons. So am I not deserving of this phone because I wish not to unlock and root?

I've rooted all my phones as well, and once you do, it never seems to end. I want to say that I'm done flashing as well. I have a business to run and other responsibilities and don't have time to devote to the never ending cycle of flashing roms. I just want a phone that lives up to its claims.

my stock nexus has been awesome every since the day i purchased it on release day...no regrets..love the phone..updates in a timely matter would be nice, as long as it is all ironed out and works well with verizon and their 4g network.

But you should leave Harrisburg.
Why? I work there, I live in Lebanon. And haven't any problems. The phone works fine for me. I'm not gonna travel the country just to see where this phone works or doesn't work. It works where I travel daily and weekly. That's what matters to me.
