8gb or 16gb

I got the 8GB since this will be a "secondary" tablet to throw in my purse and take to work and use for a couple of games, productivity items, reading and twitter. As for watching movies, music, and things that require a lot of space, my main tablet has 64GB so I should be fine.

I ordered the 8 since I've never been able to go beyond 4gb on any of my phones, besides if i'm not using something I will just removed and install as necessary.

I'm stoked About this. Shipping second week in July. That's next week. I get paid and a new burn notice comes on. This may be the best July ever. (Nexus 7, dinc 4g, and gs3)

I'm def getting the 8gb and using cloud storage. What about you guys?

I was going to do the same, until I realized the usable space on the 8GB is more like 5.9GB. So I upped it to the 16GB (probably closer to 13GB), and I've got my various clouds as well.

I got the 16gb version because im constantly using the space to put movies and tv shows on.

But I also read that we should be able to connect usb sticks and usb hard drives to the charging port

16gb is required. Especially with no SD card. I'd rather get a 32gb if they had it.

What do android fans think of this since they always harp on apple for not having expandable storage?

And why exactly is 16 gb required? Google Music allows you to upload up to 20,000 songs for free, stream them through wifi. Or if you need a song or an album for offline play (like the car) you can download it to your device. Google Drive gives you 5 gb of free storage for all your other content, and for as little as $5/month you can get 100 gb of storage (like me).

Any content purchased on the Play Store can either be streamed (video/music content) or installed/removed/and reinstalled at a later date.

In a given day I am in an area which has wi-fi service (work and home) plus every night I return home at which I can remove what I won't use for tomorrow and upload what I will use.

I have never understood the need for massive amounts of storage, say your $50 and buy a 1 terabyte external harddrive for your home computer.

For me, I want it for nandroids and other associated flashing goodies.

16 gb. I sold a few items I had in the house that I wasn't using to Gamestop. I only owe 95 dollars once the 7 arrives. Who can top that???

I sold my free 16 gb Blackberry Playbook (I am a Blackberry Developer) for $125, and an old iPod Nano I had laying around for $75. The person I sold them to just ordered the Nexus 7 for my and even paid the taxes and the shipping costs.

ps I got the 8 gb version

16gb here... I live in N. Va and have had no internet since a huge storm Friday... Cloud storage just doesn't work for me...

Well, this isn't a phone so I think you may be disappointed. Just because your head is in the clouds doesn't mean you shouldn't have your feet on the ground.

I put mine on my debit card and don't owe anything. Plus I already bought a nice folio case, microUSB-2-USB cable, and already have a microUSB-2-HDMI in case they update JB to handle it. Pretty sure the hardware will.

And I still don't owe anything.

:)

If you don't understand the need for massive amounts of storage, why buy a terabyte external hard drive for your home computer?

You're going to get pretty bored and frustrated the 1st time you have to go without wifi for more than a couple of hours.

Face it, it happens.

Who all owns a NFC enabled phone? I just bought my g.f one and her nexus came today.(8gb tab) but I saw someone post about NFC transfers. If u have a nexus or any other device you could just use that if u dont have WiFi.

Storage is great for games that use extra data like nova 3 which needs almost 2GB of space. 16GB is what I went with since I will be playing games on mine. If they had a32gb one I would've bought that.

I went with the 8gb as well. I see it's a commonplace thing for companies to raise the price by 50 or even 100$ for some more memory. I just can't justify paying 50$ for another 8gb.

I am somewhat reconsidering however. It seems like many people here are opting for the 16gb model. I put avi files for in car viewing though. The 8gb could end up being a really bad decision.
