8gb or 16gb

8 vs 16 for a power user is kinda a dumb argument.

If you are the type to lug around alot of media, even 16GB isn't enough. Therefore a cloud/Mobile mass storage workaround is absolutely necessary for power users either way (For those worried about lack of storage (USB-OTG discussion thread) - xda-developers). Cloud+nfc should cover most peoples need.. beyond that the N7 is not a good tab for you. Consumption device first and foremost. Stop trying to square peg round hole. This should be a "LEAD" device for other tabs just like Nexus phones.

Doh! Fail!

Your needs, not mine. Your experience, not mine.

LUG around a lot of media? 4 32GB microSD cards in a slim plastic holder take up less space than my wallet condom. And I LUG that everywhere, LOL. A small USB-microSD adapter takes up maybe that same space. Total weight = Less than $40 worth of pot (and I LUG that everywhere too, double-LOL)

But I still purchased the 16GB version. Like they say in Hollywood, you can never be too thin, too rich, or have too many GB's :p:D

I went with the 8GB Nexus 7. Cloud life is good enough for me. I can see why alot of people went with 16GB, though. I'm really just looking forward to seeing Jelly Bean in action.

Can someone pLease post a link on a USB storage drive or something that will connect to this? I always carry my iPad in a child size north face back pack. And now with my n7 I would like to carry that and a external hard drive or something g like that.

I think the 8 gig is plenty. I however got the 16 gig because even though I know I won't fill up more that 8 I also know how much of an idiot I'd feel if I did manage to run out of space. For 50 bucks the peace of mind is well justified. A year from now I won't remember the 50 bucks but I will be heavily invested in the tablet and hopefully have a lot of cool apps, games, and possibly music on it. That's not the time to think about upgrading. I keep devices for a long time when I get them unlike most people who go through phones like toilet paper.

Ha this is exactly what i was thinking. I actually came about a second away from pre ordering an 8GB, but why risk it.

My phone is 16GB and i have a few GB left over so i think i'll be ok on the Nexus 7

Missed the point totally. People are trying to make a 200(250) tab the perfect tab. Sorry, there is going to be a trad-off. The N7 is NOT the right tool for the storage hungry and don't or can't use the cloud consumers.

Also, the word LUG in this case simply means having to carry more than 2 devices to accomplish all your mobile technology needs. The individual with passports drives, phones, separate garmins, laptops and tablets. Yes, that is "LUGGING". People are clearly upset about the storage options of the N7 because they want to consolidate, not carry more crap around.

You seemed to miss the point totally. You see storage as a passport drive? I have a Android phone with a usb connector and wifi capability. I have NO intention of carrying a passport or wifi enabled drive around to connect it to. I do have extra 32GB microSD cards that I can grab and slip in a pocket, shoe or a sock bag to put into a suitcase on business. Toss into the glove box if going on vaca. My point is, the same storage I use for my phone which is loaded with music, pictures, videos (over 75, full length movies non-HD, who needs that on a phone form factor?) can and will be used as secondary storage for my Nexus 7, just as soon as I'm rooted.

No lugging of anything. If this thing was 4G and on the mobile network I wouldn't need my HTC Rezound, only my bluetooth and wired headsets (used in different instances)

No, I got the 16 GB because I learned my lesson long ago. The problem with people that have their heads in "the cloud" they never really have their feet on the ground.

May I use that? Applause, that was classy *no sarcasm intended, seriously

EDIT: That's going on my signature if you're OK with that.

Respectfully, quite BS.

The problem is the 5% of power users feel his/her needs are more important than the other 95%.

Further, you clearly made a case that the N7 doesn't fit your needs (no sd card slot) but got one anyway.

Well, I like the quote. I think it's quite true in some cases.

Here's the problem as I see it. (note: I'm still going to get the 8gb since I'm a cheap ass and don't want to pay 50$ for 8gbs)

Everyone is talking about storage on the cloud. Frankly, it's quite a neat and useful thing. However, the N7 doesn't have 3g capabilities and the cloud requires an internet connection. So in the car, what can you do? Buy the 16gb version (or use stickmount). < Now that isn't what I'm advising everyone to do. If you aren't going to store movies and play 2gb games on your device; there's no need. You'll have enough with room to spare at 8gb.

Although, buying the 16gb version supports Google more: and that's never a bad thing. :p

The Nexus 7 is about using all of Google's services, such as the Google Drive cloud system. For $5/month I upgraded it to 100 gb which is plenty for my needs. Plus for music I am uploading all of it to Google Play.

If you need huge amounts of storage in a tablet sized device get the Microsoft Surface which the largest will have 256 gb SSD. But for all your storage needs that will only cost you $800+

Fits my needs perfectly! If the one that fits your needs is the one that has everything, you gonna be waiting for a WiniOSDroid supa-tab tera-jigga-byter.

7 inch or 10?

LOL

Anyone who apparently hasn't realized how awesome google drive is and wants additional storage go on amazon.com and look up wifi hard drives. There are very small ones that can give you 32gb or even 64gb. Seagate makes a larger one that can do 500 gb

I am anxiously awaiting the release of the Surface tablet and intend to get one on pre-order or as soon as they are available. I've purchased laptops from $1200-$2500. An $800 tablet that replaces them is quite reasonable. It's not the storage that has me wanting this, but for the full enterprise integration. Face it, like it or not, Windows rules the enterprise. And in the end, they will rule the tablet world as well, for that reason alone if none other.
