A difference in functionality btwn S3 & S4 S-Pens

I have 5 Samsung tablets. A 10.1 (2014) note pro, two 12.2 note pros, the newer S3 and, now, the new S4. Before I lost the S3 pen and the dog ate the S4 pen I used them interchangeably between S3 & S4 tablets. They seemed to have the same functionality on each tablet. Now that I have to buy two pens I am wondering if there is any functional difference between the two (i.e. S4 S-pen used with the S3). I prefer the S3 black pen with the clip to the beige S4 pen with no clip. Plus, I have NEVER been able to secure the black rubber pen holder that comes with the keyboard cover to that cover (dumb).

Any recommendations for which pen has a leg up on functionality? That is, if there is a difference. I guess the real question is: do you lose any functionality if you use the S3 pen with the S4.

Sorry no insight here just noticed your post the other day and see that it still sits here unanswered. So I thought I'd pop in and say as a member you have access to other areas of the site including threads for Samsung Tablets. If this were my thread I'd probably ask people I know had the same device as me a question like this. Here in the general Ask a Question section it's going to be hit or miss on even finding someone with a Tab, not to mention someone with a Sammy and who's maybe replace a smart pen.
