A video that makes a lot of sense

Re: And then there's this guy.

Ignore the noise and buy what suits you.

Not sure what you referring to about "noise."

But as you mention there's plenty of reviewers giving praise to the Note 8 and glossing over or not putting more attention at the price. Don't get me wrong.. Samsung has accomplish an amazing feat with the Note 8, but there's so many phones to choose from.

Granted, there's not too many phones.. perhaps hardly none at all that has legitimate stylus support. It gives Samsung that justification to put a premium on it, but these reviewers help potential buyers make a smart decision instead of jumping head in.

No really. If you're note a Note person, have no plans you get one, negative all the time, then my suggestion is to seriously go to the section and phone you love.

If ALL you can say is price too high, then there isn't a discussion.

There's so much going for the Note 8.
6gb ram
Spen.
Slightly larger display.
Dual camera.
IOS on both cameras.
You said exactly what the video says, if you don't need those few extras, is it worth the extra cost. Some of you are taking this way to serious. People come to this forum for ideas, research, reviews. For some on the fence, maybe seeing the differences in this video will help them make a decision. It's by no means telling you not to buy the note 8, in fact he says if these features are important to you, then buy it.

I posted this just for some to see the differences, not to persuade you not to buy it, or it's too expensive, as that's not the only reason he said was not to buy it.

The question for people to answer for themselves is, are the differences worth the extra cost? That's a question only you can answer.

I usually find the guy from Unbox Therapy quite grating, but he actually has a sensible video here. The S8 and S8+ offer so much more for so much less, and that''s what the average person wants--more bang for their buck.

The hype beast is real right now, but you really need to be sensible when purchasing a device. Is the $300 increase in price between the Note 8 and S8+ worth it just for the S pen and a secondary lens you probably won't use?
Thank you, that's why I posted this video. I thought it was sensible, not beating down the note 8. It's just putting out there are the few differences and smaller battery worth the extra cost. If it is to you then great, I still haven't decided. With the Samsung offer for note 7 users, I'm on the fence.

Where's your opposing video? The positive one? You posted a negative video of the Note 8.

I preordered the Note 8 but I don't know if I'm going to cancel it or not. I don't like the price at all, and I barely use the s pen. When I had my iPhone 7 Plus, I used the zoom lens a couple of times and that's about it.

I'll rethink my options and I'm going to see what else is out there. If people think the $300 price difference between the S8+ and Note 8 is worth it, cool. Go out and buy the phone. But if you're like me and not too keen on the price, there are other alternatives out there.

There was nothing negative about the video that was posted. The Unbox Therapy guy said the Note 8 was a great device. He was being sensible about the price, and the video was directed towards the average smartphone user.

Re: And then there's this guy.

He's right of course. If the Spen isn't something you really really want and if the dual camera isn't something you'll use etc etc. But he isn't talking to most of us in here. For one thing, with the trade in and device payment plan and some freebies from Samsung, it isn't quite as expensive as he makes it sound. For another. anybody who has ever used the Spen for many things for any length of time, wants it back. But it's always useful to hear the devil's advocate side of things.

That video is not negative imo. I like seeing both sides before buying something, it pays to do a little research.

The guy in video opinion is, it isn't worth the extra cost, that's his, everyone is able to make their own decision. Your taking the video as negative because your probably buying the note 8. This guy points out some negative things about it. there were videos that listed negative things about the s8 series, yet I find those phones great, some don't, but at least I was able to research before spending almost thousand dollars, I want to see the good and bad. And that's why I am researching the note 8, with the Samsung offer I'm looking at it a little.

I'm sorry but that video makes no sense. First thing, he doesn't know the individual financial situation. Second if that's the phone I want who is he to tell me not to get it?. 3rd in my opinion he's not a good reviewer.

This video is strictly intended for research people, I'm not trying to convince people not to get it, I just thought the guy did a good job pointing the differences out without bashing the hell out of the note 8, I think it will be a nice phone.

I think we can all agree that no phone is the best or has it all, they all have short comings. Maybe I'm more open minded, I don't know, but this video did not make me not want to buy the note 8.

Watch the video again, he never said anything about individual financial situation, he said there's cheaper options to save money, is it worth the extra cost to you. He didn't say not to get it, he used a click bait title, but in the video he said if the differences are worth it to you, buy it. It's your opinion.

Reverse the video, let's say he said buy it, it's worth every penny for the differences, and to some it is, you would be saying awesome video. Just because you don't agree with it, some Will and might make their decision easier.

Overall though I think if you buy the Note 8 you're set until the Note 9. The s9 will basically have what the Note 8 will have in it minus Spen.so you're saving money with that right there.

I pity someone spending $1200 before taxes on the iPhone 8 which won't even be an upgrade over the S8.

Then you have the iPhone 7s which won't even touch the s8, let alone Note 8.

Too bad there are copy right laws or I'd take cow crap and slap on an Apple logo. People would still line up for two days to buy it lol.

Does the price suck? Totally for the Note 8. Even the S8 Plus was too high. The trade in deal helps though. If this phone was $1,000 I would not be touching it. Even the S8 Plus was near the limit I was willing to spend on a non spen phone.

Does anyone know the sales numbers for the s8 line? It seems just over a month after launch they were running deep discounts on it from the major retailers.

The Note line is a niche device and is never expect to sell near what the S line does.

Those will be out when the full embargo is lifted I imagine and all the youtubers will be able to post their reviews probably on official launch day. I can't speak for other but I have in past... the moment they have show up on youtube, have created threads to post them before anyone else.

There are little hand's on videos all over... but doesnt really say much more than what they are allowed to say. They're really not even allowed to show pics taken during their hands on time.

The videos being linked... I don't think they are negative. But they are taking the op to argue though after their hands on and finding the cost whether the average consumer need the Note for the cost or if they are better off saving money on the S8. They aren't even pushing them to other brands... they're still recommending the Samsung.

This is a discussion forum. And if the topic is on point and discusses price or bang for the buck... then what's wrong? There are people here that are shopping and don't have the luxury of jumping or buying a new phone every year so excuse us for being critical and arguing points while we struggle to decide if this is the phone for us or convince ourselves to spend the $1000 to buy it.

That's why I posted this video. If your on the fence, maybe seeing the few differences might make you think it's better to wait. It's just another perspective to look at. I'm still on the fence, I haven't even ordered it yet, lol.

I agree with your first line. If I stick with the Note 8, it'll be my only phone until the Note 9, if I decide to go that route.

The iPhone 8 won't be an upgrade to the S8 for many reasons. 1. It's an Apple device. It'll be an upgrade for the current Apple lineup. 2. It'll be a huge refresh for Apple. It'll contain many design elements that weren't available to Apple users before, if the rumors stay true. 3. The iPhone 8 will appeal to a much wider audience than the Note 8, but the Note line has always been for a niche market.

I'm considering the iPhone 8, but that's because it won't be a huge slab like the 7 Plus was. It'll be a huge departure from the usual Apple form factor, and I find that quite exciting.

I thought his main argument in the video was that even though the Note 8 is a great phone... if you don't need the pen... then for $250-$300 cheaper the S8/S8+ is practically the identical phone except no pen. then he does the comparison using his usual schtick which I'm not sure if I really like but I keep watching some of his vids at times... so I guess I do like his style.

He makes a compelling argument. The one thing he can't argue is if you like the pen or want the pen... then his video is not for you.
